    Yeah she was hot, great tits. I still prefer Mrs. Newlin.

    The Newlins are still kickin' but the last time you see them they are fighting amongst each other so no real hint that they will ever be relevant again. I hope they are though, Jason at the church of the sun was just soooo much win.

    Did anyone else get the feeling from the king's reaction that he knew exactly what the source of Sookie's power was?
    Yup, I noticed the same thing, he didn't seem to be concerned at all.

    The last episode opened up a whole can of worms for me because until that point I had just assumed the magister was the oldest/most powerful, but then you hear the King doesn't fear him at all and says he has no power except for what they give him. You also see a cloaked figure leading the werewolves(which I think is safe to assume is the King) in Eric's past, so he is obviously really old.

    So now we have Eric who wants revenge against the King, and the King who is probably going to try and overthrow the magister with the help of his werewolf lackeys. Season's getting really good.

    Why do people seem to forget about Godric when talking about old vampires? Pretty sure he was the oldest vampire depicted in the show thus far. Him and Eric are/were my favorite characters in the show. I really hope...

    Spoiler: show
    that finding the crown jolts Eric out of being a subservient pussy and him and Bill together wreak righteous vengeance on some Nazi vampire/werewolf ass.

    I actually mentioned a page or so ago that a show about Eric and Godric through history would be badass(if not a little homoerotic...). But now that he is dead he doesn't really belong in the discussion. As far as the vampire hierarchy is concerned(which is another of my favorite things about the show), the blonde vamp politician ordered Godric around, although Godric wasn't the type to challenge anyways, even if he was more powerful. Also for all we know the King could be older than anyone if you believe that was him in Eric's flashback.

    I don't think Eric is being subservient for the hell of it, I think it is clear he is leading Talbot on - possibly to get the upper hand on the King.

    You can see pics of him in the gay thread if you like him. >_> <_<

    And I think the blonde chick vamp from TV is sort of like the Magister in a sense that they only give her power because of her "position".

    re: Jason's new girl: I felt superficial for the first reaction being "wow he dropped down a few tiers" when they were first meeting, but apparently that's not an uncommon reaction lol

    Sort of related to that, but this show seems to really like distinguishing people by haircuts/hairstyles, I always notice people have something slightly off about them that makes me pay closer attention when they're involved, like Sam's "Dad" and Franklin especially.

    Yeah the vamp's ages aren't always the same as they were in the books.

    Bill's about right. Was in the Civil War in the books, same on the show. Should be 160-170+.
    Eric's 1000+ in books, 1000+ in show.
    Sophie Ann (the Queen) is a bit older than Eric in the books (she mentions the Dark Ages, so 1100+), and on the show I can't really remember what they've said about her age.
    Russell in the books I can't really remember, I know he was old, and on the show they've said he's 2800+, i.e. older than Godric was.

    I believe you, but when did they say this?

    I don't know about Russell, but Godric said he was "much older then Jesus" in the show. I actually assumed he was an ancient Mayan or something. Which could put him anywhere from 4000 to 2000 years old.

    But if he's older then Jesus, he's at bare minimum 2050 year old.

    Godric had egyptian tats, thought that was pretty obvious.

    I wouldn't say his tattoos are obviously Egyptian. In fact, I thought they looked Mayan.

    Also, he just says he's older than Jesus, not "much older." A small but important distinction.

    I like Tara, I just hate the scenes with Tara's ugly mother. Any of their characters become super irritating when the story centers too much on them. Tara got way too much face time in season 2. She's a good character, but too much of any character leaves you irritated.

    If that's actually true, that could make him even older then I thought. He could be anywhere from 2050-5100 years old.

    Ah, I thought I remembered him saying much older. Either way, he's old.

    Actually, if you go by history, the Romans took over the Egyptian empire in 31 BC. Around that time frame would make sense for him to be born. He could've been in his teens or something when the Romans took over. It'd make for a good story.

    According to a random person on the interwebs, the book says they are from "Roman era."

    The show specifically said Godric was "over 2000 years old." not "over 5000 years old."

    And about Russell, the show hasn't explicitly stated he's around 2800, but Alan Ball (EP/showrunner/writer/etc) said it in an interview, and so did Denis O'Hare (actor that plays Russell Edgington). O'Hare mentioned he's been with Talbot for 700 years, and in the show he says he turned Talbot. I can't remember, but I could have sworn in the books Talbot was a human, not a vampire. I read Club Dead so long ago.

    [Edit: Godric also mentioned that he had not met Jesus, but would have liked to have met him, and if he was contemporary with Jesus during his human life or shortly after he was made a vampire, either way that puts him over 2,000 years, not 5,000+. He didn't say he would have liked to have met Ramses II of Egypt.]

    [Edit 2: Yeah, I seem to remember book Godric, aka Godfrey, having similar tattoos, but maybe Pictish or some shit like that in origin, but he was also a kid-toucher and not Eric's maker.]

    http://www.watchtruebloodseries.com/...drics-tattoos/

    Some guy went through the trouble to try and translate the runes and they seem to be indeed Pictish

    TYR = T
    MANNAZ = M
    DAEG = D
    EOLH = Z
    IS = I
    OTHEL = O
    LAGUZ = L
    HAGALL = H
    Some symbolic meanings:
    TYR (also TIR, TIW, TIWAZ): represents the god of the same name, who is associated with combat, particularly single combat, as well as victory and glory. This god’s name is also where we get the day of the week “Tuesday” from (Tyr’s day). It’s a very masculine rune, and usually represents some kind of competitive success or victory.
    MANNAZ: means “man,” generally in the sense of humankind, rather than gender, and often represents some kind of cooperation or interdependence.
    DAEG: means “day,” and usually indicates some kind of growth or increase.
    EOLH: meaning obscure, thought to represent “elk,” can represent good fortune or protection.
    IS : pronounced “ice,” and means the same, often represents something ‘frozen,’ or put on hold.
    OTHEL: means “estate,” “possession,” or “heritage,” and represents acquisition of possessions, inheritance, or wealth.
    LAGUZ: means “water,” often a lake, and can represent imagination or intuition. It’s a very feminine rune.
    HAGALL: means “hail,” often represents forces outside of human control, a disruption.

    btw the wiki has this quote from Eric when talking about Godric

    Eric Northman claims "there are none above him in the New World," referring to the physical power he has accumulated as the oldest vampire in the Americas.
    So if the King is 2800 years old wouldn't that put Godric in that range?

    Possibly, or Eric really had no clue about how old Russell was, or that Russell was the cloaked figure from his past when he was gettin' busy with the redhead that milked the goats.

    That "or" should have been an "and" my bad.
