I watch Ugly Americans every week. Love that show. Love the new Futurama too. Though last night I tried to watch them and fell asleep during a commercial break and didn't wake back up till they were both over...

I hate how they are relying on gimmicky violence to be funny/special/unique ever since they moved to cable. The zoidberg malpractice scene would have probably been more tastefully done if they were still on national television. Instead of just explicitly chopping the characters up and if they were going to do gimmicky violence, they should just go all out and be as offensive as possible like Drawn Together.

As of right now, the violence is just jarring. I don't tune in to futurama to watch the characters get brutalized and fucked up, there's other shows for that...

Are you kidding? Violence and mutilation has been with the show since day one. Did you just start watching Futurama?

Yeah the original run had Fry decapitated (and re-sewn on Amy's body), electrocuted (rake on power lines in Luck of Fryish), sterilized (x-ray from bender), stabbed through the chest (bee stinger), had his hand eaten by a T-Rex and his his arm chopped off by Zoidberg (and re-sewn incorrectly), and I'm sure several other very explicitly violent encounters that didn't come to me off the top of my head as well.

Futurama has always had some pretty silly/ridiculous violence and mutilation, particularly when it served the plot (which it did here!). I saw no problem with it, liked the episode overall.

Also, thursday nights are fucking awesome now. Burn notice, futurama, ugly americans, louie all so good.

All the notable figures of history are severed heads in jars dude lol. It sticks to reality to keep the context but it never forgets its a cartoon for the sake of comedy.

I thought this was the best episode this season, and one of my favorites. The jokes were unique and funny, the story was pretty good and had some warmth, the plot wasn't totally linear and singular, and the ending scene with the rube goldberg machine was creative and awesome.

When Leela was talking to Fry right at the tail end about his father I was hoping to see another emotional episode and blams, they saved all of it for the very last minute.

Looks like they were saving the best episodes for last, the last few have been amazing (all episodes are good, but these have stood out to me more >.> ).

pretty good. like that they went a more sensible route instead of the "since fry's the hero everything must work out in his favor" route that so many shows would have gone. then they saved it from being too depressing by putting that ending with fry's dad in there. overall one of the better-constructed "emotional" episodes. pretty funny, too.

    basically,
    Spoiler: show
I love that Fry lost the science contest. it fit with the plot, it fit with his character type (face it, he's a loser), and the ending still kept you from feeling too bad for him.

Ending wasn't that sad (it was good though)....Jurassic Bark made me cry pretty hard. GDI thinking about it is making me upset.
