The most forgettable new episode for me is the one where Leela and Amy are butterfly gladiators. Every time I see it it's like I forgot it ever existed.

Futurama has already had like 5 different endings at this point. Just let it rest.
The Butterjunk Effect. It had its moments but overall not the strongest.
The iPhone episode was pretty meh too now that I think about it other than the "Shut up and take my money" meme.
I'd honestly say the forward only time machine episode was the only one in the comedy central era I'd call an all time classic.

Didn't that end in a paradox?
It cleaned itself up when the 2nd loop was a few feet lower than the original departure point and the forwards time machine killed that time loop's Farnsworth/Fry/Bender
John DiMaggio would like some more money before he's willing to voice Bender. He believes the whole cast deserves more as well.

I always hate when people use fans and coworkers (who were apparently good enough with what was offered to sign on) to try to leverage more money. The sympathy card might work for some of the lesser known cast members, but you're not gonna convince me DiMaggio's hard up for the cash. As said above, I'd rather the money go to the animation team.
It sounds like you’re missing the point entirely of what he said the problem was.
He says they are undervalueing them. Underpaying them. Getting less than what you think you are worth is not always about the money, as oxymoronic as that sounds. It’s about- as he put it- respect. He’s being undervalued in an industry that has a penchant for gross undervaluement. (Yes, animators are also way underpaid, we’re not talking about that.) the others are fine with it because maybe the fun of the job is enough for them. But saying DiMaggio is in the wrong because you want him to voice a character for less money than what he thinks he deserves sounds pretty shitty. I’m thinking of all those nightmare posts we laugh at on people trying to undersell the buyer. I’m thinking of the people who say they’ll pay in “exposure.” While probably not as extreme as that, he’s picked his hill to die on. Blaming HIM for not taking a job for YOU sounds like the asshat thing to do.
The voice acting community is notoriously territorial and close knit. I think it says more about DiMaggio when his peers on the show have already signed on. Not saying he's right or wrong. Just making an observation.
Seems like they negotiated with Billy West and Katey Sagal first because they probably knew they'd be easier to work with, so by the time they were ready to announce it's only Dimaggio holding out to try to make him look bad.
I wasn't missing the point. This is what I was trying to say. If the other cast members have signed on, then they obviously don't think that the amount (be it money or respect) they're getting is less than they're worth. Is it as much money as they would have liked? Maybe, maybe not. That's an entirely different question. But that's how negotiation works.
I don't think there's anything wrong with him wanting X amount, nor is there anything wrong with the studio not being willing to pay him X amount. My problem is that he's trying to drag his colleagues under the bus with him.
If DiMaggio wasn't happy with what was offered, he could have just as easily just said no and moved on. But instead he's trying to make it into a bigger issue so that it doesn't hurt his brand when people ask "Hey where's Bender?" and the show runners have to say that his asking price was too high. There was no other reason for him to bring up the rest of the cast when the ink on their deals is apparently already dry.
Also to make it clear, I couldn't care less one way or the other whether or not he ever voices Bender again. Hell, I probably won't even watch this continuation unless I'm bored one day and out of shit to binge. I'm just over here calling it like I see it.
That’s how negotiations work. 1 person makes offer. If person 2 isn’t happy with offer, they make one themselves. Then person 1 responds to that offer. He didn’t come out and say what the deal was until people asked. What I’m heavily questioning is why Hulu would make this Futurama announcement before the Bender thing was finalized one way or another unless THEY were the ones trying to pressure him.
Or DiMaggio’s an asshole. Know way of knowing for sure.
Double post
For sure, I'm not trying to defend either party. Just going by the facts as we know them.
DiMaggio is working for a lot of the same producers in Disenchantment voicing King Zøg. So I don't think he's an asshole. He knows his market value voicing Bender.
