Teachers are held to ridiculously high standards by parents and by administration. Case in point, before graduation from college with my B.A. in Elementary Education, a professor of mine gave our class a few pieces of advice. If you smoke, quit smoking since you won't get hired if you do. If you have a facebook, myspace, or any other type of social networking tool, delete it immediately.

The teacher shouldn't have been forced to give up his position because of sending explicit text messages to his own girlfriend who is above the legal age.

I'm actually instead hoping that someday her husband divorces her and realeases pictures of her naked to her coworkers and boss. I feel sorry for the girl as much as the guy though, bet she's getting her school/housing taken care of by her parents, and if they're being super controlling bitchy about things like this, she's really not in much of a position to fight back.

I think he meant that social networks expose your non-professional lifestyle that could get you into hot waters with rouge parents. Pix or comments about you acting like a drunken tard/slut (there will always be that one picture that could get you fucked at your job). Anything worthy of incriminating or unsightly investigations by others. Not just for schools, but for any "professional" job you might have. SET YOUR PRIVACY HIGH.

I was wondering that myself. Not so long ago the male being 12 years older than the female would have been quite normal to people. Now it seems almost a crime.

The other way, the older female, often seems almost encouraged.

However, there is a fellow at my work who thinks it is absolutely disgusting to go out with anyone more than three years younger than you and that you're a horrible, depraved human being for doing so.
