Don't listen to anyone who says no. It all really depends on the person and where you work.

Good friend of mine dated her manager for a couple of years. The company they worked for had a strict policy on not dating your co-workers, so it was kept quiet. Eventually, people found out somehow and they both lost their jobs (I think she was actually fired, and he resigned before he could be). After that their relationship went to crap, he blamed her for not ever getting a better job etc, broke up.
Met my current girlfriend at work. Been dating her for almost 15 months now, and it's the happiest Ive ever been. She was also seasonal, so I worked with her for a summer and a holiday break before we started dating, and then another summer we worked together while dating. Now she has a job elsewhere.
On the other hand, my good friend manages the store I work at... he has "dated" 3 girls who have worked there and all of them have ended horribly. The last one he dated for 8 months and it was actually going well, that was just more a difference in goals rather than the girl being an evil bitch.

Never done it, but I should have tried once. Not for some sort of serious relationship, but because of manly urges.
As far as the overwhelming no I'm seeing, mature people who are good for each other generally rise above or ignore BS despite the situation (sans something absurd).
Started dating a coworker 5.5 years ago, we're getting married in a week and a half. I would have to give some credit to the longevity of our relationship to the fact that we both went to different jobs after about 4 months of dating though. Probably the most difficult part was after we had made it known at work we were dating (had to disclose to HR per company policy) I learned my manager was interested in me and she proceeded to make both of us miserable for the remaining months we were there. Things actually got way better for us once we were at different jobs. IMO work can be a good place to start relationships, but a very difficult place to maintain them.
This made me lol, I claim the same thing about drinking every Sunday I wake up with a massive hangover. Never tends to stick though...
I work mostly with dudes. Kinda sux.
I wouldn't do it. I've had two office relationships and both ended badly. The second one was worse because after we broke up we still worked in the same department so it was really akward. I don't think I'll ever date someone I work with again lol.
ctrl + f confidence
what the fuck is wrong with you guys?
I had a few work relationships in my past, they were awful, especially when shit would get distracted and eventually would get us in trouble. But.. really it depends on the place of work.
Companies have rules forbidding dating coworkers for a reason, and it's not to keep you down.
Rules are always to keep you down. Fight the man.
Rise up!
Rule #12: "Never date a coworker"
I've done it before, where I worked at the time didn't have rules against it. Didn't work out and made things kind of akward for a while. Ultimately, I think a good analogy is "Don't shit where you eat." It's cool to be friends, but if you don't think it is something that will last long term, it will make things weird for you if it doesn't work out.
This. Only go for it if you don't see her often/at all. That way if things go south you won't have to interact with her on a daily basis, where it'll be horribly akward and possibly end up getting you in trouble.
Half my friends at work date other people from the office (call center environment), the relationships that didn't implode within a few months are either working opposite shifts, or were together before getting the job here.
where is this glow in the dark minigolf in ny? sounds fun
Anecdotes aside, you can look at it 2 ways. Look at her as just any other girl who approaching in terms of dating, especially just coming off a bad relationship, is going to come with her own set of baggage and just give it a shot.
Or you can look at it the previous way and add the fact that you will be working with her, which changes the total dynamic of not just that relationship but often other ones at work as well. If things go sour, they will go much more sour.
So weigh out your own options while understanding the risk and make your decision based on that.
Well I wouldn't call it full glow in the dark, but it's got some glow in the dark elements. It's over in New Roc City in New Rochelle. It's... okay. The course itself is pretty shitty, but it was fun to do with a lot of people.
As far as the responses go, I thank those of you for your experiences. Most of which seem to be negative which I expected. Her and I actually spoke about it today. She's obviously fucked up from the last guy, and it's pretty depressing cause she's such a sweetheart. She's pretty perceptive though, and she knows I wanted to ask her out a while ago, but anyway we both agreed it's probably for the best we didn't do anything, even in the future. We do work in the same office, and really don't want to go anywhere or hurt each other so we're just gonna stay friends. She's got a ton of friends anyhow, so it's all good.
Again, thanks to those of you who responded.
