Has a release schedule been given at all yet?
Was too short for me to really have an opinion.. It was decent. I'll check next week's episode
Too short indeed. Started like your du jour action flick, but I understood what they were going for (just like the previous clip - to stay away from supernatural shit), which is fine by me. Will check it next time.
I was surprised to not see any "fan favorite" a.k.a. palette swap ninjas not introduced somewhere in the 12 minute first episode. Well, at least Cage is dead for sure...or at least I hope.
What are people talking about when they say, "more realistic"? This is pretty much the same way the first movie started(some police raid on shang tsung's boat or someshit) and then it dived into the other realms and they fought and did MK stuff. If they don't do that then it isn't Mortal Kombat. It's like doing a superman movie but clark kent is a god damn police officer with no powers.
How is any director/writer supposed to keep things realistic when characters like sub-zero, raiden, shang tsung, and baraka have been confirmed in the show? This isn't "more realistic" like Nolan doing batman without Mr. Freeze. This is Nolan doing batman with Mr. Freeze. Maybe it's because people are comparing this to the MK done 20 years ago. In which case, yes, it's more "realistic" for the same reasons tron is more realistic today than it was 30 years ago: special effects, baby.
Enjoyed the episode. Something new to watch every week since most shows are on hiatus.
I don't know what you're trying to say. Perhaps you misread my post.
You're implying I think the characters(baraka, you say) are done incorrectly? Well, I didn't say that. I said you can't have things realistic with characters like baraka. And unless that Private-Youtube thing 6souls posted had baraka in it you're talking about the trailer in the beginning of the thread. That trailer has nothing(afaik) with the webseries. But I guess that plastic surgeon weirdo who's supposed to be baraka is done "realistically". But you can't have sub-zero be some mad scientist who shoots liquid nitrogen out of a backpack with tubes coming up to his wrists.
Maybe you think I'm bashing this webseries? I'm not. I'm saying mortal kombat can't be realistic -- it needs the supernatural.

There will be some mysticism involved. so at least it won't be something cheesy like liquid nitrogen-slinging-spider-zeroSays he wants to make a movie that balances the real world with the mysticism and the special powers. Compares it to the way Harry Potter exists in two worlds. As in there are two universes that coexist with each other.
Hmm, I think I was thrown off by the initial trailer not having Michael Jai White as Jax. I didn't think the 7 minute teaser/trailer that was released a long time ago was related to this.
Did some research and it seems like it's up for interpretation at the moment,According to 6soul's actor lists though.. Baraka isn't even played by a black guy anymore(and he was black in the 7min short). Idk about scorpion/anybody else since I can't find the actors' names in the 7minute short. In Tancharoen's Rebirth, which you can see below, Jax and Sonya set Scorpion out on a mission to win the Mortal Kombat tournament and bring down Shang Tsung. It's unknown whether that story has carried over from Rebirth, as that feature was more of a proof-of-concept than anything else. However, episode two of Legacy is meant to go live next week. We will definitely be watching.
Or am I actually just severely behind and it's known that the 7min rebirth trailer in the beginning of the thread is related to this 10 week web series?
shoot out scene is boring and out of place for mk
blaring music while i stare at sonya at the end is cheesy
cop drama protocol scene is boring and out of place
jax fighting kano was cool ... the only actual mortal kombat part of that 12 minute snooze
"but quannum! it was the first one, they need to set up blah blah blah" yea they need to do it while entertaining me or just put the details in an introductory exposition and get on with it
I agree
I think a better setup would have been to start it off at the tournament and then present this sort of background stuff as flashbacks, because for a first episode this felt generic and out of place. The concept video from a few months back was great and despite all the things it changed, it felt very Mortal Kombatty. This didn't.
You're behind. The trailer was a promo to try to woo Warner Bros. into selecting Kevin to direct a third movie, but instead it was turned into a web series (growing medium/fad). Michael has been Jax all along, it was spelled Jacks in "Rebirth." The actor who played Baraka has other commitments at the moment. *cough*Twilight Breaking Dawn part 2*cough* As for the actor list from Rebirth;
Jeri Ryan ... Sonya Blade
Michael Jai White ... Jackson Briggs
Ian Anthony Dale ... Hanzo Hasashi / Scorpion
Richard Dorton ... Reptile
Lateef Crowder ... Alan Zane / Baraka
Matt Mullins ... Johnny Cage
