There's no reason to suspect something weird and rare with this. Chest pain is one of the most extremely common complaints, even in young people. And it's almost never something dangerous like a blood clot.

Chest pain affects most people fairly frequently, its very rarely anything to be concerned about in itself, like people have said, even if it feels severe.

My doctor thought I had Costochondritis. After my galbladder surgery I started having pains in my left rib cage under my breast. I went back to the doctor, he didn't do many tests but gave me a medication. I took the medication for about a week and had horrible side effects from it. I went back to the doctor and he basically told me nothing is wrong. Now I am starting to think of pancreitus or other type of pancreas problems that accompany gallstones.. If you are a female I would probably suggest talking to your doctor about getting your gallbladder checked for gallstones. As for me, I'm going to see another doctor soon.

I first noticed a problem with my galbladder when I had severe pains around my heart area that felt like some serious heart burn, and almost crippling pain in the lower chest area like a huge cramp. In the whole year before, I would get less severe pains similar, like feeling like heart burn even though I had not eaten anything and I never really got heartburn in the first place (cept for french fries at mc.ds) for about 2 hours once a week up until the big kahuna, that's when I went to the doctor and they had a sonogram my gallbladder and found 6 gallstones and 1 in my intestine.

Although It is likely I also had Costochondritis from my surgery, as it is an infection to your ribs and that's where my surgery took place. I didn't like the medicine he gave me and the pain went away for now (pain comes back every 2-3 months on my left side) I had my gallbladder surgery in November 2009 and I was only 19 (now 20) so yes it can happen to you! Not just for old folks.
