In the old Voltron, every fight ended with Voltron pulling out his giant sword, slicing the monster then standing still as the monster would fall apart into two pieces. Cue big ass explosion. And I wouldn't go so far as to say the new Voltron animation looks better compared to ye olde.

The old animation/art style is 10,000 better than the new one. Honestly, all "new" cartoons have the same awful look to them...the same goes for that trailer.

And the realization that Robotech and Voltron were spliced cartoons took a bit away from Voltron for me but completely explained why I loved The Macross Saga but went "What the fuck is this shit!?" at part two of the series.

Strange. How many of you watched the original Voltron when it was on the air in 1984?

I like seeing the animation updated because it looks much cleaner and modern. I do think, however, that the character models are a bit too simplistic.

I really liked the redo of Robotech and think what they did with the story when they put the three series together was a really good thing. However, upon learning the original Voltron plot I think they decimated it to nothing but a kiddie show.

I'd still love to see HBO or something similar take Robotech and turn it into a live action one hour weekly TV series.

Me. I pretty much watched every & any cartoon that was on syndication from 83/4 through 99. Didn't have cable until I was in college.

I watched original Voltron when I was kid. There were 2 Voltrons! Remember the Voltron that was made up of like 12 fucking little space ships? Every morning at elementary school we would talk about how Voltron fucked up another monster.

Syndication was huge in the 90s. Back when it wasn't 6 hours of Saved By the Bell reruns we had stuff like Voltron and Robotech and god forbid... Sailor Moon and anything else that came from asia and was cheap to put on the air.

Gotta remember, back then it was Disney Afternoon or some random independent channel in whatever your area you lived in.

As for this Voltron, its gotta be the most horrible remake of anything I have seen since the The Last Airbender movie. It was bound to be a cheesy effort no matter what, but the character animation looks like it was done as cheaply as possible.

Toss in the "Voltron Rap" and it makes me want to go to New York and punch Mariah's husband in the face for greenlighting this pos.
