For those interested, the original Voltron is available for instant streaming through Netflix. Both the Lion series and the inferior "Voltron is a spaceship" series.
So Lotor is so stupid strong to be able to fight hand-to-hand with Voltron like that now? Also, that animation, I know I've said it before but it's just so bad lmao.
You realize that people who grew up with these cartoons are not the demographic they are aiming for with these remakes, right? The children these days will slurp up any kind of sugar coated shit they get thrown at and parents don't give a fuck about how bad it is, as long as their kids can shut up for 30mins while they deal with bills.
Dear god do not touch Ronin Warriors. Hell don't even make it into a Saint Seiya(Knights of the Zodiac) DW type game. I excite for Saint Seiya game but I dunno if Ronin would work well.
Ugh, That was horrible. The original wasn't GREAT, but it was par for the course in the 80's At least HUB still replays the old GI Joe and Transformers episodes so I can get this suckfest off my mind.
Actually watched a couple eps of this yesterday and it wasn't nearly as bad as new shit like the Speed Racer remake they went with as well. Not exactly a show I'd follow. Hell, only reason I liked the old Voltron was because of how mega-campy it was, lol
* Voltron: Defender of the Universe live-action movie. In July 2005, producer Mark Gordon (Grey's Anatomy, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) announced plans to create a live-action film adaptation of the Voltron franchise in collaboration with producers Pharrell Williams, Mark Costa, and Frank Oelman. Pharrell Williams was also reported to compose the musical score the film.[9] The project's development was funded by Jim Young's Animus Films.[10] In December 2006, screenwriter Enzo Marra was announced to have completed a script for Gordon.[11] In August 2007, the production entity New Regency entered negotiations with Mark Gordon Co. to adapt Voltron. Interest in the property heightened after the box office success of Transformers, another film involving robots.[citation needed] Marks's script was described as "a post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City... [in which] five ragtag survivors of an alien attack band together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth's invaders."[10]" On August 18, 2008, Relativity Media entered negotiations with New Regency to finance and produce the film, though on a more moderate budget, utilizing cost-saving CGI techniques such as those used in 300. Max Makowski is set to direct. As of the end of August 2008, the title had been set for Voltron: Defender of the Universe.[12] However, Ted Koplar, through his World Events Production Company, was fighting a legal battle with Toei Company Ltd. over the movie rights as of November of that year.[13] The Voltron movie may be distributed by Paramount Pictures. On September 16, 2010, concept art for the movie was released [2]. On March 8th, 2011, it was announced that Relativity Media and World Events had entered a bidding war on who would make the film. Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer are currently writing the script.[14]
Really? Voltron in NY.
Really?
(This all made me start to reminisce and I was reading through some of the wiki's. I guess the original GoLion did have a tie into Earth but i did not remember any of that)
Why are people freaking out about a show they watched 20 years ago being remade? Are these shows being marketed to anyone over 14? Do these shows come on channels for those over 21? Are you going to watch? Are these new shows going to replace the memories you have of the shows you've watched? Will this ruin your lives (obviously it will, the way people are reacting.) So many things have been remade and just slapped a new name on it. Get over it.
I think they should go the other way, make a Thundercats live-action film with Guillermo Del-Toro (the guy who made those Hellboy flicks) directing. No CGI! Lots of prosthetic. Think Helena Bonham Carter in Planet of the Apes, except as a cat. Real campy.
