Ok, wait, you're saying everything in Toronto closes at senior citizen hours? You must be thinking of those little places that are technically part of Toronto now, the major core that is legitimately Toronto isn't nearly that lame.

But yeah breakfast everywhere ends at like 11 or some shit in Canada , sucks balls

Toronto has an excellent transit system, maybe someone from another big city like NY or something would say otherwise, but compared to Winnipeg it is awesome. Unless you're going from like Scarborough to Mississauga everyday or something even more extreme, you shouldn't ever need a vehicle. Or maybe it's not awesome so much as it is simple. Idk i liked it.

The people well, they're not as friendly as people I usually dealt with, but it could have been a few bad apples. When I was downtown a few years back leaving a subway station (Or something), I held the door open for someone behind me and they purposely moved and opened the next door open. A little thing, I found it funny if anything, but I like holding doors open for people and being thanked

Also nobody in Toronto likes hockey. They don't even have a real team.

I live just outside the 'core' (not as far as GTA Etobicoke, IN actual Toronto) and I work right downtown. Malls closing at 9:00/9:30pm (Eaton Centre, right in the thick of things closes at 9PM Mon-Fri, 7PM Sat, and 6PM Sun; Yorkdale is similar). Most of the stores around my work close at 6PM, 7PM latest, unless, of course, you're talking about bars and such, which I'm not, those close at 2AM. Where I live, the only things that stay open past 7PM are barbershops and a random Korean grocery store Walking along Yonge the other evening, right by Dundas Square, a lot of shops were long-closed at 8PM, only things being open were strip clubs and a random few indie stores with clothes and/or comics. It was about 50/50 open to closed from what I saw, esp the further North I walked. I don't know, I prefer to do things later, after getting home and eating dinner, but when I do that, I don't have any time at all to get things done because everything is soon closing.

In regards to the breakfast, I mean come on Tim Horton's, they don't even have a huge menu but can't keep it all going all day? If I want a chicken wrap for breakfast I should be able to get it, damnit! Or an egg and cheese on an English muffin for dinner!

just kidding bro i love my country, wipe open spaces, great wild life, decent amount of hot women, nice summers, great winters, not in a major disaster zone, free health care if you become a citizen, fishing, swimming, hiking, biking, big cities, small towns, great transportation systems in pretty much every city ive been too minus the usual problems, casinos, science centers, kids parks and play places, amusement parks, water slides, skiing and boarding out west and in quebec, great weed from coast to coast, lax laws if you get caught with a small amount.

all kinds off great shit, just stay the FUCK off my property or i will point my licensed and registered weapon at you but won't fire it because i will suffer the consequences even if you are trespassing.

If you're from anywhere in the UK you'll fit in just fine. People will talk about hockey like they did back home about football (though no rioting).

Pub culture doesn't exist, but that doesn't mean Canadians don't like to go out and drink. We like lager here, but there are some very excellent micro and regional breweries making fantastic beer. I would highly recommend anything from Quebec's Unibroue, especially any of their Belgian-style Trappist ales (La Fin du Monde and Trois Pistoles are my favourites). Not sure what's good and local out East, I'm from British Columbia, but I'm sure there's lots of good stuff.

Canadians do like their outdoorsy stuff, though it's just as much personal preference as anything. If you do like hiking, camping, fishing, etc there's lots of that and lots of space to do it in.

What kind of work will you be doing when you arrive?

No true Torontonian would say that.

That and they have the jabroni Giambrone running crap there. It's expensive and poorly run right now, imo.

It's almost as if I don't live there.

Besides, people get heads cut off in buses in Manitoba.

Don't move to Toronto. Or Winnipeg. Or Edmonton.

Moved to Toronto and had to leave in less than two years. Winnipeg and Edmonton I couldn't even last a day.

Edit: Go to Eglinton and Mt. Pleasant and go to the Granite and buy a Granite Burger and a Ringberry Ale. Then leave the city forever.

Apache burger is pretty sweet. Everyone raves about Webbers but I never saw what was so attractive about them.

Skjie's sig reminds me: You can read about our history (sort of) over at Kate Beaton's webcomic site http://harkavagrant.com/ I love her characterization of John A. Macdonald, that wacky drunk

http://www.nfb.ca/ also has a lot of Canadiana to watch. Check out the "History Moments" for some goofy, albeit informative, shorts about historical Canadian figures and events.

Canada's ok. It's like being in America only instead of Spanish on signs and things it's French. Still get WGN on cable.

I've mostly only been to Alberta though. Only time I've been to Toronto is when my flight was canceled/delayed/missed due to delay - twice.

Everything seems like it's in the middle of nowhere and the malls all close stupidly early but the grocery store is still open late.
