The point being, in an earlier statement, it was claimed the agent was surrounded, and it gave an impression that he was being pelted with rocks from various sides. The video seems to show that the rocks only came from one side, and that the people throwing the rocks were far. This makes the situation seem less dangerous and dire as it was previously made out to be by statements from the officials.

When I watched the video it seemed obvious to me that deadly force was excessive and unnecessary. To you it seems to confirm that deadly force was necessary and the right thing to do.

When did I ever say they that?

1. The cop should be put and was put on administrative leave and should be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law if found guilty. Given the video, the CBP agent has a weak case.

2. The kids were acting like idiots knowingly throwing rocks against an armed individual whose sole purpose is to stop you from crossing the border illegally.

Seriously, that's all that needs to be said about this incident at the moment. Can we please stop with the kumbaya bullshit. The world is a shitty place, take responsibility for whatever you've done and/or instigated.

Did the kid deserved to get shot? No.

Just saw the camera phone footage on CNN and for some reason it panned away during the shooting and alleged rock throwing with a mention of an "editing" but had no idea what they meant.

Also, there was a scene and mention that the officer had collared the guy on his knees. That is kind of strange why would you collar exactly as opposed to something like cuffing? Seemed kinky in the video

Sorry I misinterpreted what you said. I actually agree with this. I don't have much hope for the CBP agent though now because the video shows that he lied initially. If he had told the truth from the beginning about how the incident went down it might not be as bad for him.

Judging from the video, it seems probable that the kid was on the US side of the border, and when the agent arrived, he ran back to the Mexican side, where he started to throw rocks and was killed.

This is my view when I first saw the video. It is possible though the kid never was on the US side.


From what it looks like, some tried to cross one got caught (or two I think from the articles, but the cop only was detaining one at the time of the video), the rest ran back and out of frustration of having one of them get caught started to throw rocks in protest.

The kid either was part of the group crossing, or saw it happen and decided to join in. Which is also very likely considering there's probably a lot of hate towards the border patrol in the area, it's easy to get caught up in anger.


What the cop did was stupid though. Not only is it a bad idea to give a warning shot in the first place, but you can tell (or at least this is how I see it) from the video he had little control of his aiming with rocks coming at him, and having to hold down the other guy. His hand is waving pretty badly, so EVEN if it was a "justified" situation for a warning shot, it was a terrible decision because he couldn't aim it well.


I would say in his defense I would consider his account of events pretty accurate. I know he technically wasn't "surrounded" as he stated, but considering it looked like 5ish people throwing rocks and you can't exactly keep your eyes open when looking (imagine getting hit with rocks you'd duck and try to put your arm in front of you to protect your face, more than likely he didn't see much of what was going on), he might have thought it was the case. Also, IF they were trying to cross the border initially they might have started throwing things at him from the bridge on the way to the other side (doubtful, but possible).

Obviously, this is still assuming some things, but the video does help make things a little bit clearer than before.

Bottom line: don't annoy armed security with loaded firearms, no matter where you are they are.

I don't care what justification you have - the security has a fucking gun, loaded with ammo. Do you know what happens when a bullet hits someone? Do you WANT to die today?

Jesus, the guy was wrong, but the kids were idiotic, and as a result, there's one less idiotic kid on this planet. A's in school be damned, you do not mess with armed security, no matter how much you THINK they'll restrain themselves in the name of "professionalism".

This is an example of humanity's foolish mob-mentality, where the size of one's balls grows larger in proportion to the amount of people around him/her, temporarily united under the same cause.
