Aion worth playing?

Tbh I can't find enough time to do everything I want to, between farming Kinah/Ap, doing an instance or 2 (TL, DP, Forts, Dredg, etc), actually PvPing, fighting world bosses (lol, sorry Asmos, you got back fur instead of bosses ;3), farting around with random people dueling, and lvling an alt, there really isn't enough time for me to do it all and accomplish what I want while I'm working a full time job.

I'm kinda in the same boat as vey, plenty to do and not enough time to do it. 2 Upper inner fort instances, 3x dredgions, boss hunts, and theo labs is a lot per day to do, and that's not including gathering materials for the billions of mana pots I need to do them. I don't really care for Dark Poeta at all personally...I think it's one of the least rewarding instances per time spent in Aion now.

My server is dead on Elyos side. Most of the faction (moreso than average) is pve. I hear we're getting merged with Siel but looks like Elyos on that side are in a big slump now...

It's kinda boring though, skill doesn't mean anything on these button mash games and it's all numbers.

I really wanted Aion to succeed for me because i'm honestly not impressed with XIV so far. I'm also completely addicted to PVP now, which surprises me. I got my thrills and highs from winning claims in XI, which sounds so ridiculously silly now. I guess after standing around for 12 hours, anything would pump me up.

I'm with Arthars, i don't hate the game. I dislike that it's built around the Korean model of legalized RMT, annoying RNG, and huge money sinks. I love the combat and art style though. If i were to pick a way i want my game to look, it would be Aion.

Yea, it's funny how the 'competition' in FF11 was sitting around and waiting for something to pop. I can't imagine doing that shit again. PVP is a lot of fun.

I pretty much agree w/ what you just said. That sums Aion up accurately. I think the Star Wars mmo will be pretty cool + it's BioWare + American. Korean MMOs are just a big awful grindfest.

I agree about 99% of that, except a few of Arthar's points, but that can be over looked! When I first saw Aion in concept's back in '07 (before there were asmos, lol, they originally had bat wings btw) I went holy shit, wish FFXI was like that, and I've become addicted to pvp as well now ;3

Completely agree. I couldn't play another MMORPG that wasn't PvP 'based'. I have the same thoughts when I look back at my FFXI days. I was always trying to gear myself up, just to be able to PvE a bit better. Much more rewarding gearing myself up to be able to PvP better.
I hope XIV is good, for all the people that are looking forward to it. I loved XI, and have nothing against SE. That said, I very much doubt I'll be playing it.

Private Server Pros:
-Free
-Different exp/drop rates (x5-x100?!)
-Custom tweaks to gameplay mechanics

Cons:
-Less players
-Glitchy in some areas
-Little to no GM Support

I fucked around on InfiniteAion for a few days and decided it wasn't for me, saved myself a few bucks. My Girl loves it however~

I had no idea there were free servers for this. The result of leaked code or reverse engineering? Do they contain the same areas or are they generated by those running the servers?

Not sure how it works really but NC games seem to be easily emulated as there are hundreds of private servers for Aion and L2.

Not to promote one, as it's kinda taboo and all, but i'm fucking around on Gamez Aion. Forts are the only major things that don't work but it only takes like 6 hours to hit 50. It's kind of amazing how much PVP there is when there's no need for PVE.

Vey, I understand where you are coming from, but all the evidence I have seen in the development of FFXIV leads me to believe it is going to be a radical divergence from FFXI not just in gameplay but in development too.

I can hope, but the way they handle internal policy, their ToS, and their customer support is beyond abysmal compared to other companies, MMO related or not. Not to mention their laughable Gm system is being transferred as well, which unfortunately is one thing I couldn't stand about XI. Also, Sundiwut :< he's the community head, again, or was last I heard. I'll prolly try it, but I'm really not going to get my hopes up too much
