Telltale Creating Jurassic Park, Back To The Future Games

Telltale Games has carved out a niche in the game industry with episodic adventure games like Sam & Max and Tales of Monkey Island. Now the developer is taking its expertise to classic movie franchises.

The developer on Wednesday announced a multi-year game development deal with Universal Partnerships and Licensing to create episodic games based on the film franchises Jurassic Park and Back to the Future.

The first game, released as a "season" made up of several individually-released episodes, will be based on the Back to the Future films and will release this winter, Telltale said. Jurassic Park will follow "shortly," the company added.

San Rafael, CA-based Telltale said it has delivered over 5 million episodes across all major video game platforms, and sold 3.5 million episodes since 2005. LucasArts adventure game veterans founded the company in 2004.

The developer didn't specify which platforms the new film-based games would come to, but Telltale develops for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, Mac and iPad. Telltale said the titles are in the works for "multiple" platforms.

Universal Pictures' Back to the Future and Jurassic Park film trilogies collectively grossed over $3 billion at the box office.

Telltale Games CEO Dan Connors said in a statement, "Our partnership with Universal is an exciting next step in our continued growth as a mass-market games publisher and developer."

I'm sure these will sell horribly... as do all cross movie / game concepts, because they generally exaggerate everything and/or fuck it all up so badly that none of it makes sense.

if its anything like this, then.. yeah.

I don't recall in BTTF when he ran around dodging people, dogs, and glass movers to collect clocks, and benches were fatal.

I don't know if their cartoony style would mix well with Jurassic/BttF.
(doing 'realistic' graphics would be too much of a budget and time constraint for their consistent-release episodic model)

Jurassic Park on Genesis was pretty epic at the time.

I always got stuck at the end where you had to drop the T-Rex skull on the raptors or w/e the hell you had to do in the first one (I think it came out first). I liked the other one better though where it had that overhead view and when you went into buildings it'd change into an FPS.

Jurassic Park on Sega CD was a neat little adventure game. Shit got intense when you had to sneak into the Raptor den to steal their eggs armed only with night vision goggles and a tranquilizer gun!

This game was the bane of my existence. Fucking raptor ambushes inside the buildings were terrifying.
