Yeah, he was one of the few worth bringing back. Most of the post-MK2 characters were pretty forgettable

In a way, sure, though personally I'd rather have a proper expansion disc than DLC, or a rerelease for a fighter. IE, if I'm pulling the disc off the shelf 10 years down the line, I don't want to need to worry about if I have the same Live/PSN login still, all that, just to have the "full" game. Doubly so for a game like this that I might be playing on the spur of the moment because friends are over.

Have to is a strong word - there's the option to not buy stuff. Personally, MvC3 would have been a day 1 buy for me - DLC characters mean bargain bin, if that.
