yeah, especially untrue of ps1. I had a modded ps1. Though I mostly just used it to play Dragon Ball Z Legends when it was a JP exclusive.

Man, I told myself I wouldn't get hyped up and disappointed by another Mortal Kombat release, but this really does finally seem like the successor to MK1 and 2 I've been waiting for forever. Between MK3's crappy sub-cosplay character design, MK4's spastic animation, and the PS2/Xbox era's stiff copy and paste look, the series has really failed to live up to its niche as being a silly game to casually play with friends and laugh at because they've been so utterly lazy with the presentation for well over a decade now. Hopefully with the improved presentation and (hopefully) refined gameplay in MK9, it'll actually appeal to casuals and pros instead of just being bargain bin garbage.

This video is also reminding me how great the SNES MK1 soundtrack was. Genesis owners might've gotten blood and responsive gameplay, but SNES folks got the baddest-assed character select theme ever.

Mortal Kombat's always seriously been lacking in terms of memorable music since MK2, I hope MK9 has some good tracks.

ive always sucked at mk when i was little, but just looking at the combos/playing the psn demo/being able to do combos now (lol, thx vanilla ssf4 bro for piquing my interest in fighting games again after years of rpg & fps) im kinda pumped for this one. PLEASE DO WELL

I love how the crotch punch works on female characters in this game now. It only worked on non-Cage dudes in the original.
