Only been playing story so far, it's pretty fun.

Well, I don't have the game and I'm not about to sit down and play online while making friends watch? lol

Either way, I'd want to see what a community deems overpowered or the best. I've mostly been playing Raiden(has always been a favorite) and Jax(his combos just "feel" easy to do and they do nearly the damage of x-rays lawl).

What they did was this:

-Assume players of equal skill
-Each character fought each character 10 times
-Players aren't scored against themselves
-10 fights X 27 matchups (28 characters-your own character=27 matchups)=Score out of 270
-The average number of wins is the number that listed (i.e. Ermac, on average, won against Baraka 7 times)
-Scores of 4-6 indicate no significant difference in the number of wins (aka no strong advantages/disadvantages in the matchup)
-Score of less than 4 indicates a significant disadvantage for the character in that matchup
-Score of more than 6 indicates a significant advantage for the character in that matchup

Example:
Ermac, against Baraka, has a score of 7. So, when fighting Baraka, Ermac  has a significant advantage, and Baraka, against Ermac, has a score of 3  (won 3/10 against Ermac), is at a natural disadvantage when he fights  Ermac.

Note: Total of 101-115 have most natural disadvantages, total of 148-165 have most natural advantages.

Again, Kabal has been shown to be much better then mid tier and Cyrax is blatantly better then Low Tier.

I'm looking more for a discussion board. I'm more of an abusive/gimmicky player in fighting games so I don't think I can gain any information, for myself, from a tier list.

I assume you're talking to me? c.c I didn't want to make a big deal out of it; just wanted to be pointed to a discussion thread about balance/etc since looking at what thousands of people find about characters would be faster than what me and friends would find.

And to reiterate, a tier list wont really matter to me since I'm not that good at fighting games. I just want to know what casuals are doing to rape shit.

Dude. Just play the game and pick a fighter you like that fits your style, that's how most people even get good at this game. Like I've played Kabal since UMK3 on SNES and will continue with this game.

Well, I figured I'd be politically correct? by saying week one since some people have already had the game for a few days now.

Either way, people seem to be bitching about stupid shit they don't bother to block. Not to mention half the shit in this game has a retardedly long ass recovery.

Dude. Just play the game and pick a fighter you like that fits your style, that's how most people even get good at this game.

Like I am and have been doing? I just asked if there's a MK9 balance discussion thread/forum out there. I don't know why people are getting antagonized by that. It isn't like I'm jumping over to cyrax because someone's unbeatable with him on a live stream.

Picked up Noob as soon as I got home just to see how awful he was seeing as how people on here were and my friend was complaining about him. Much to my surprise, Noob is fucking beast with those shadow moves; if I could figure out the fucking portals I'd enjoy him that much more. Haven't given too many of the other characters a chance yet, but I played Scorpion a lot in the demo and I'm enjoying him in the full game, Cyrax was always a favorite of mine from UMK3 so he's played decently as well. Nowhere near as good with Reptile as I had hoped, which saddens me.

Tried Smoke, but I really couldn't figure him out, so I bailed after two matches.

I'm definitely liking Scorpion and Stryker the most; Stryker's X-Ray move is also downright hilarious.

I really like the Story Mode and Challenge Tower a lot, even if it can be extremely cheap at times (Shao Kahn/Kintaro/Goro's random spurts of unflinchiness).

you can usually chump them out with either jump kicks or projectile spam, liu kang vs. Shao kahn can be won with nothing but low fireballs. Raiden vs shao kahn you can abuse teleport and hit him from behind to open up combos or xray

Just picked my copy up last night and started messing around with characters and the challenge tower. As much as I wanted to use my HRAP it was too awkward for either tag ins or xrays like pointed out earlier. Things got a bit better once I broke out the Chunners SF4 fight pad. lol

Challenge tower is pretty fun but I haven't started seriously looking into characters yet. Probably falling back onto Sub or Cyrax since they were my guys in MK1/2 and MK3. Then again

My friend was having probelsm with this last night too. Basically you can't wait to input combos as they land, you have somewhat preload them (for lack of a better term). Basically all three square punches need to be done by the time the first hit is finishing/as the second punch is starting. If you try to hold out and hit the next button as your punch is landing, you will consistently get single hits only.
