Kung Lao and Ermac are the derpiest fucking characters out there in fighting games along with a level 3 xfc Dark Phoenix. Netcode is fucking ass, hitboxes are retarded, block setup is stupid, and hit-confirms are non-fucking existent.

Um...so strange. I was just about to post that Kung Lao was head and heals the most broken char in the game....he can combo into...everything....and easily. It seems he is the only character you can actually hit confirm with .-.

JWong is maining Kung Lao, but said he would be before the game even came out, lol.

Kung Lao is top in all the classic MKs (2, 3, UMK3, Trilogy). If I had to put money on who the best is without playing it, I'd pick Kung Lao.

It's not great minds, etc. . . It is just knowing Kung is always broken. It is like part of his character.

The only reason the competitive community is playing this is the free money being thrown at the game by midway marketing department to evo, once that drys up the competitive community will stop playing faster than a fasta very fast thing travelling very fast.

On the topic of Ermac, also, make him miss his teleport slam and punish him. Hard. He is weak in all other areas, just don't let that slam hit. Hell, I've seen shit characters like Sheeva beat half-decent Ermacs.

No, I don't. I mean I hope the game does well because I love the franchise, but you misinterpreted my statement. I was trying to say that if you thought that this MK was going to be a worthy "tournament game" and not just a nostalgia filled fun with friends fight then I don't know what to tell you. It's like expecting a new Mario to be the best RPG or something.

EDIT: In all seriousness though, I'm waiting until EVO to see how long this game will play out. Right now it's serving as a good distraction from MvC3, and I know it will probably end up squeezing its way into the Tuesday night gatherings here. But if the tournament is going to be nothing but Kung Laos, might as well hang it up here.

Hell, I got my start even before Marvel 2 with Mortal Kombat 1 in the arcades. 2 and UMK3 was HUGE here - there was Thursday night and Saturday tourneys weekly, in 4-5 locations.

I want it to do well, but it would be nice if they made it tourney worthy. They will sell enough copies to easily warrant a sequel.

But seriously, Mortal Kombat was never all that great for competitive play. In line with what Welt said, 2 and UMK 3 were both fun as hell, but the series has never really had a huge appeal to serious fighting game fans. At the least I'm digging it because it will give me another game to play against the people on my boat before they quit trying to play me at fighting games. I've been having to resort to Soul Calibur 4 with one other person since no else on the boat can stand playing more then 2 or 3 fights with me before they get agitated.

But Guilty Gear was no where near as imbalanced as fighters today, cept SSF4 AE.

Guilty Gear #reload and Accent Core had THE BEST balancing I have seen in my entire history of playing fighters since SF2 in the arcades.

Sorry Welt, I know you invited me before but I don't play MK Online ever. I've always considered it a better single player game rather than multi. I just don't have fun with the online. SSFIV or MvC you or anyone that's good can beat my ass all day and I'll have a good time. MK is just about the SP for me. Which sounds crazy probably. It's one of the few fighters I hate online/multi player with. The only exception I make is with one of my RL buddies cause we're both pretty bad at it, and neither of us care. Whereas SF we actually try.
