UMK3 Shao Khan was a joke compared to this one. I remember blowing through that whole game on a single quarter pretty easily. Having said that, besides a few SNK bosses I never really had a problem beating them unless on some retarded ultimate hard mode.

Bosses not named Rugal are fine as is.

Haha I never really messed with SNK but I've heard countless stories about Rugal.

I remember as a kid spending entire afternoons with my friends trying to beat SF2:WW for the snes on the hardest difficulty to see what happened and I can't remember if we ever did beat it. For shits and giggles I went back and played the original SF2:WW for the SNES on max difficulty recently, and if you go in with any kind of fighting game knowledge you can absolutely level that game in about 10 minutes flat.

The Unholy Trinity, tears fell like rain.

As for MK9 its beautiful graphic wise, the story is awesome (cousin told me entire history while going through it) tieing everything up in game form. They took things from some other fighting games and made it their own in a good way.

Of course just the feel of the fighting is something to get use to, thats the only gripe about it, and everyones bad posture/fighting stance.

My cousin and I would mostly play Ken and Ryu to have hadouken battles with each other. When we didn't feel like playing each other, we'd try to battle up to Sagat and do it with him. We both hated Vega because of that goddamn gate. I remember when we could finally play as the bosses and found out we couldn't climb the gate with Vega we were pissed.

I was thinking about getting this when the price drops since it looks like a lot of fun with the vids I've been watching. I love fighters but I always suck at 'em, but with all the in game solo content I should have a lot of fun with it.

Worst game bosses I remember were Snk vs Capcom 2 with Shin Akuma/Ultimate Rugal. Shao Kahn in UMK3 would just piss me off with spamming the sledge hammer/taunting. Would make me laugh and rage at the same time.

Even if the game tanks in the long term competitive scene, nr studios has definitely given everyone else a run for their money in single player content. It definitely beats some third rate korean sweatshop anime cutscenes and a shitty jpop song.

I hope they take advantage of dlc and put out more chunks of story, I'll gladly pay for it. For a fighting game, MK has always had kind of an interesting story that was marred by shitty last minute retcons (we fired Daniel Pesina so Johnny cage is dead- wait he's alive- wait, he's dead again) and barely fleshed out characters. The characters are still kind of two-dimensional after MK9, but at least the storyline from 1 through 3 is all in one place with some semblance of continuity.

How long does the story take to do? In MK vs. DC you were looking at 2hrs each for both sides of the story.

I picked it up and its quite fun. I'm far from being good, but I'm enjoying it. I didn't care for the constant character changes in story but I think it was a good idea since it kept with the story and got me to try people I likely would never use. It just sucked finally getting used to someone only to be forced to play as another character.

Beat story mode the other day, and beat challenge tower yesterday. I didnt even know you could skip challenges until I got to 300 lol... But whatever, glad I didnt skip any. I beat 300 on my first "real" try, however 251 on the other hand.. ugh, that was a pain in the ass.

Arcade Sticks are kinda ass for this game because of the weird control setup that make Xrays or Tag Ins really really awkward to use. best bet is a SF4 fight pad for now unless they update the game with a new control setup.

< Praying they perform an update to save this.

Fighters are not meant to be played on pads, and no matter what, I will never play on one
