I'm sure the mass exodus from what's left of the Big12 will begin now.

Welcome to the B10, Nebraska. I look forward to seeing a new team in both football and basketball
you know it'll be funny when they beat on teams like michigan
Tyronn Lue wrecks shit son.
According to what i just saw, Texas, Texas Tech, OU and Oklahoma State poised to go to Pac-10 as early as Tuesday, with A&M more directing towards SEC.
A&M will likely follow everyone to the Pac 10. Going to SEC alone makes no sense.
Has plow not made a post?
Pac-10 will benefit HIGHLY from those teams now that USC will be shit for the next 9+ years. Which btw I masturbated upon hearing that news. GJ kiffin on taking that job, bet Tennessee Volfags are laughing it up.
9 years? Really? You guys honestly think USC will go into the tank for that long? Beautiful weather, great academic school, and the best coaching staff in the country. They'll be back in less than 5.
losing that many scholarships over 3 years hurts schools the most. That stuff is all well and good, but I think most important to a lot of athletes is not having to pay tuition. Shit ton of athletes cannot pay that tuition, huge risk to do financial aid too if on the bubble of not getting grants. Look how long it took UA to come back after their loss of scholarships way back when, not that it didn't help with the coaching situation but USC could suffer that too. Plus the sanctions likely to come out of the OJ Mayo. Hell you might see death penalty after that. 2 sports at the university having the same problem will not look good.
UA won a championship within 3 years after losing those scholarships. If Saban was there before then, it probably would have been sooner. The place is a football factory, and they still have 75 scholarships a year. I don't think they're going into some deep-seeded notre dame recession.
Much as I hate USC, they won't be down for more than 5 yrs. Although if Texas and Oklahoma go to the Pac 10 they will have a tougher time than not. He wasn't talking about the book deal at UA Tyche, he was referencing the last time we got hit where we went through 3 coaches like dominoes. Took us a good 6 years to get back into shape. The book penalty wasn't "that" bad considering.
I believe the OJ Mayo situation is part of this penalty, but I could have read that wrong.
Edit: to clarify, FNH was referring to 2002 where we came very close to receiving the death penalty. We had five years' probation, a two-year bowl ban and lost 21 scholarships over three years.
TAMU would be out of their minds to head to the SEC alone. They need to ride the coattails of Texas - as funny as that sounds.
It seems like the media is pretty spot on with what's going to happen, at least so far. Boise St to the MWC tells me that the MWC is already betting on the Big12 falling, and getting Kansas, Kansas St, and Iowa St.
Are you fucking retarded? Wait, why am I asking?
Looking at *JUST* football, Nebraska has won the north a whopping twice in the last 10 years. Colorado has 4, Mizzou and K-State each have 2. KU has 1 less BCS win than Nebraska, and Nebraska's were both 10+ years ago. The north has been "weak" for about 2 years, which, amusingly enough, is when Nebraska finally started to look like they might not be trash anymore.
Further, they have no basketball, and in one of the most ironic sports happenings ever, they've managed to pull off having the worst fucking baseball team in the north.
Nebraska has been pissed since the inception of the 12 that Texas is considered more valuable than them (gee I wonder why), and of course the big 12's tv deal just plain sucks balls, and isn't making any progress.
It's *ALL* about money. Nebraska's always been pissed that Texas gets more, and the big 10 offers more for anyone, period.
Even aside all that, if you think playing in the weaker division of a BCS conference, where you get to dodge the consistently tough teams until the title game is a bad thing for a team... you're dumber than your notre dame fanship implies. Florida wants a word with you, btw.
Anyway, yeah... it's not the big 12 falling apart that I'm all /wrists over, it's the fact that KU and K-State are just getting shat on. KU has one of the most valuable basketball programs there is even... but that doesn't mean shit when we're talking about the real money.
I'm afraid that this is what basically happens:
Texas, OU, OkSU, TA&M, and Tech all head to the Pac-10.
Big 10 adds Mizzou, Notre Dame, Syracuse, and Rutgers.
SEC adds GaTech, FSU, Miami, Clemson.
KU, K-State, Iowa State, Baylor... to the fucking MWC. I mean, ok, sure. K-State, Boise, Utah, TCU, BYU... it'll be a decent football conference, and basically the default 4th "superconference"... but fuck. Just... fuck. It's going to need to go after some Big East/ACC sloppy seconds and become the "Nationwide" conference or some shit.
Because we're going to end up with 4 conferences setting up a "tournament of champions" to determine the national champion, and those conferences are going to have 16-20 teams, period.
The SEC has said all along that if the Big 10 or Pac-10 (by all along I'm talking since the mid 90's) went to 16 teams, they would "respond appropriately" or some such, i.e. do the same.
