Bought my tickets to Savor yesterday.
Fiancee wanted to try to get into the Beer & Wine Hybrid salon, but it was sold out. I grabbed the Saison one on Friday night. Would have liked to do an IPA/Hop one, but the fiancee isn't a big IPA fan.

Put a Cream Ale in the fermenter last night, and waiting on a special order of Lubelski and Aramis hops for my Grodziske. Also, April is NC craft beer month, and I'll be starting it out with a cask festival on April 1st. April is going to be a good month![]()
I have to work events for both of the big cask festivals near me this year, NERAX and Blue Point Cask Fest, Sucks I can't get my fix.
On the bright side I confirmed my comped tickets to Founder's Fest in Michigan in June :D Perks of being in the business.
Also cranked down my first sixer of the year of Oberon while studying for cicerone. Gonna be a good summer with that around.
Grabbed two bottles of KBS from the local grocer. This is the same place that had Hopslam not long ago.
They were only allowing 1 per customer and I luckily had my fiancee with me. Going to go back tomorrow for another if they aren't all gone.
Excited to have this one in the next day or two.
EDIT: They were only selling them for $6 a bottle which seems to be about half the price that is normally charged.
I cheated on my diet/exercise routine and am having two Founders Curmudgeon Old Ale tonight. For my birthday party (Wrestlemania 30!) I bought a 4 pack of Dark Horse Plead The 5th imperial stout. Looking forward to it!
Just got back from the Cask Fest and boy did I enjoy myself. I had all but written off Raleigh Brewing Company due to bad past experiences with just terrible beer by them, but their Scotch Ale was, hands down, the best thing there.
Also, I wore my Duckrabbit shirt and a few times got confused as somebody that works at Duckrabbit, which actually resulted in a few free beers, haha.
I want a duck rabbit shirt holy shit
I'm in the the black Duckrabbit shirt, and that's the one I wore today, but I also have the green one that my buddy here is wearing. This was taken at Big Boss a few weeks ago
Sorry if this is a novice question, but can anyone recommend me some new beers to try? Whenever I go to the beverage center nearby my place, I end up just buying random craft beers. I'm looking to expand my beer palate.
I like Belgian Tripels. Gulden Draak is one of my favorite beers. Ommegang's Three Philosophers is pretty good too. I was fortunate enough to try Westy 12 last year, but I'm aware that's pretty much a one time deal.
I also enjoyed Sam Adams 13th Hour which is a black stout? I have a bottle of the GoT Take the Black beer, but I keep putting off drinking it cos once I do it'll be gone if that makes sense. Thanks in advance.
My current faves are Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout, Duck Rabbit Milk Stout, and Allagash Tripel. I also really liked that Ballast Point Sea Monster (Imperial Stout) I linked earlier.
Any one have any favorite wheat ales they'd like to recommend?
YES!!!!! I've got a fridge full of them lol. I met their head of Marketing through instagram last week. Real nice lady, and I get a free 6 pack of Nitro Milk Stout out of the facebook convo lol.Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout
Enjoying some Goose Island Bourbon County tonight. Quite good. Unfortunately it was the last 4 pack at the grocer.
Someone I went to college with and was speaking with a couple months ago has a few 4 packs that he's been aging in his parent's cellar for a few years. Hoping he remembers me when he finally opens one of the aged batches.
Also, wish I had a cellar to age things in.
Just age it in a closet, that's what I'm doing with a couple of kbs's I got
If you're going to age beer wax the bottle if it isn't already. If you don't wax it then aging for anything longer than a year is going to result in some noticeable oxidation, with the magnitude intensifying more the longer you age it.
Thanks for the tips. I've heard a lot of good things about Left Hand Nitro. I've had Allagash White before and enjoyed it, but never the Tripel. I'm stopping by the Beverage place on my way home from work, so I'll see if they have any of your recs.
Like I said above, try Allagash White. It's rated pretty highly by Beer Advocate.
Left Hand has nitros of their Milk Stout and Sawtooth Ale. Make sure you grab the one you want. Have yet to try the Sawtooth, so can't tell you how it is.
Also on the nitro, remember to hard pour!
After seeing so many rave reviews for Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro, I was surprised to actually see it at my grocery store last night. Decided to grab 2 of them in a mix six pack to try. A little sweeter than what I'm use to, but damn is it good. Needless to say, I'm going to grab a couple six packs from the store tonight. They also had the non-nitro, so I may grab one of those just for comparison.
