Founders' 2016 KBS is out and about and it is motherfucking glorious. stout's my go-to winter beer, so the timing of this snowstorm coinciding with KBS going on sale today was perfect.

KBS was the usual shitshow lottery at my shop. I didn't luck out this year.![]()
Dogfish Head 120 is out. I got 2 bottles. One to to drink now and one to age.
I have a semi-complete vertical going back to 2006. I've been told it doesn't hold up well past four years.
Two years is the sweet spot according to a beer friend of mine who has a four figure number of checkins on untappd. Supposedly it's a burning sugar bomb if you drink it right away.
I've never had it from the bottle; only on tap at various places including DFH itself, can confirm(I'm about to hit 2500 on Untappd; been a user for over five years).
That's why I was hanging on to my bottles and since I have some well beyond the 2-4 year "sweet spot" I'm not really in any hurry to do the vertical. lol
I just downloaded that app. Feel weird about adding things I don't have in my possession, but have had. Going to do it anyway.
Just snagged 2 6-packs of Mosaic Promise. Didn't see it near me this year, but they had 3 packs left at a Whole Food near a meeting I had today. Grabbed them before getting my car at the parking garage.
Also on that Untappd train if ya'll wanna add. Dookster Kangness
I really wish I checked into everything instead of being lazy for so many years about it.
@DFH120 it totally hits its best point at 4 years I find, Before that it still has a heat and after that it's cloyingly sweet. World Wide Stout I have yet to find a bottle that was under 5 years I enjoyed.
I've got a worldwide stout from maybe 2013 in my fridge. Will have to keep that in mind.
I also say the best thing with both 120 & WWS is to make the Heaven and Hell black and tan with 'em. Delicious at that point!
I planned a small road trip up to VT and plan to swing by Waterbury to hit up the breweries. I plan to bring back as much Heady Topper as I can find lol.
The new Alchemist brewery should be opening up mid-July, Make sure to hit there!
Stopped in a whole foods near one of my projects today to grab lunch. There as a guy walking around with a 4-pack of tall cans that were silver with a raindrop pattern on he can. Anyone know what it was by chance? I didn't want to ask the guy and I didn't see it on any of the shelves or displays. I tried googling every combination of silver can beer raindrop I could think of and no dice.
The only other clue I have to go on is he said to someone it was almost $20 for the 4-pack.
Tank 7 is the only 4-pack one needs. It's not silver can, not sold at WF, and is -only- $14 usually, so this wasn't helpful.
Hah. I've had my fair share of Tank 7. This Whole Foods has it in bombers too.
They also have Squall from Dogfish; thinking of getting a bottle or two to age. Haven't seen it in years.
Your Whole Foods has Tank 7? You're NYC-area, yeah? It's a lot closer to KCMO here, and we get very little distribution love this way.
This place does and a market closer to me stocks it too.
Yeah, I'm in NYC.
Would definitely be Grimm Lumen, Stupidly limited stupidly hyped IPA.
As for the Tank 7 thing, That stuff's been in the NY market for almost a year now. Definitely drank my fair share. If you want a delicious drinking beer for this weather I would recommend scooping a 6 pack of 16oz Jack's Abby House Lager. Just a straight up easy drinking lager with a great flavor and is dirt cheap usually.
