Both nice machines. Personally I'd get the first though.
Research components before determining it's usefulness out of "how cool it looks". You can add lights to any case easily, and it's cheap as shit to do.
$2700 for the first one? That's a joke.
Step 1:
Go to NewEgg, get:
CoolerMaster HAF932 Case
i7 930 CPU
XFX 5870
6GB XMS3 Corsair RAM
800+ Watt Modular PSU, Corsair or Antec.
Western Digital HDD, pick your size.
Intel SSD for your operating system, 40GB works.
Windows 7 (Unless you have one, doubtful)
Xigmatec Dark Knight CPU Cooler.
Samsung T240HD, or T220HD, they come in a variety of sizes, the "22" and "24" are size in inches.
Step 2:
Put it all together.
Step 3:
Send me all the money I saved you.
Step 4:
???
Step 5:
Profit.
That case can look like this:

I remember OP. very impatient, ignored people's advice. now he says he's not impatient. ok
well seems you're set on Crapware.
personally over priced box. yes you can build for cheaper etc etc etc. but sounds like you aren't going that way.
just a suggestion. try Dell Outlet. refurbished/returned stuff, lower price. can combine with Dell online coupons to knock the price down even further.
Yeah no shit... I could build your fucking tower for $50 and spend $100 on UPS and still save you 1.3 fucking k.
Im not comfortable building one, never done it before all i've ever done is take them apart. I don't have a clue what i'm doing when it comes to installing bios/chip sets. I realize you can get better for cheaper but at the expense of messing up a few expensive parts is very demoralizing.
I've been watching youtube videos of it and installing the hardware doesnt seem that hard. How hard is installing the bios and stuff? and how much better of a computer could i get for ~2k
100x better. and if you are starting with a fresh new computer, with new OS, just install OS > motherboard drivers > graphics drivers > whatever else drivers you have to install. Its as easy as that.
If you have friends who know how to build computers, ask them for advice as well, if not, its a good learning experience. Youtube teaches you everything these days.
EDIT: Can you buy me a new graphics card? :D
With the thousand dollars you save building this yourself, any chance you can send me an i7 930, mobo, and 6gb of ddr3?
Also I'd like to watercool it, send me some koolance shit please.
Putting a pc together is like legos, it's incredibly easy - although wire management can go fuck itself.
Ok so gf talked it over and decided to get a desktop over laptop. She doesn't want to blow 2k building my first pc so she wants a prebuilt easily upgradable one. What are some good options for around 2k? I was looking into Ibuypower on new egg and a lot of complaints about blue screens on first shttp://www.bluegartr.com/sg-act.phptart ups.
idk
I think you're pretty much hopeless.
Come back when you've made a solid decision and know exactly what you want. It seems like everyday you go from desktop to laptop to desktop from this place because it looks cool to maybe I'll build it to "fuck it spend 2k on something that's upgradeable"...all computers are easily upgradeable, if you know what you're doing.
You seem to be made of money though, so go to ibuypower, get the most expensive option in each category, and enjoy. But if you took the time to learn about them before tossing money away, you'd be better off in the long run. Could spend $1k on a computer while you spend $4k aimlessly, and still perform closely.
Just go to ibuypower.com, pick the most expensive option in each category, you will have a nice computer.
