Exactly. I really like listening to Mike and Mike, but when it comes to them talking about the World Cup they don't know jack honestly. At least they admit it though.

Yahoo recently hired an old Washington Post baseball writer named Les Carpenter to do World Cup stuff for them... the dude spelled the name of the damn World Cup ball wrong which has been in the news ever since the start of the tournament and just basically gave a transcription of the Zidane interview. Cowherd does an OK job because he has a lot of European family ties, don't listen to SVP but I couldn't picture him as being very knowledgeable.

It's easy to get into if they offered better coverage, but you never even see it here other than the world cup.

I don't think a star is needed, just a media push to get people into it. There probably isn't any money in it for them compared to the major American pro-sports.

lol yeah, Cowherd gets annoying because he gets all preachy and it seems like he takes a minute just to finish a sentence sometimes... guy needs a co-host. But I do like it when he has Curt Schilling on, guy is awesome.

Truth hurts sometimes. I'm sorry the American public could give 2 shits about hockey.

Ain't even mad. I don't care if people are ignorant of the NHL because this is probably the best collection of talent the league has seen since the 80s/early 90s, so it's their loss if they ignore that. But when people are paid to speak intelligently on sports, and it's obvious that they're fucking clueless about the majority of them, it's just sad. Wilbon especially sounds like a moron when talking about anything but the NBA, and even then.

If soccer had that kind of talent here, with 15-20 legitimate stars around the MLS, I think people would get into it. It's a slow process, but it's better than what we have now. How many players on the US team even play in the MLS?

Isn't one of the problems with broadcasting Football in the US the fact that advertisers can't cram advert after advert into the game time?

Given what I've seen from US TV stations a game where you've got two uninterrupted 45+min halves which only has a 15min period during half-time to stick the ads isn't exactly a tempting or lucrative endeavor for big networks or advertisers.
