Spain has a long futbol tradition and history has been really shitty for us. Always good teams, and this is the first time we pass quarter-final (and obviously first time we get to the final), so its a dream came true, something we have been aiming for for a long time and in my opinion is well deserved. On the other hand, its been 38 years (I think) since Netherlands got to any final and in spite of being a kinda small country, they got a long tradition as well and good and beautiful play. Definitely happy one of them is winning the Cup, as both of them have shown over the decades they deserve it, and both make a really enjoyable play.

Eh, for both teams, and nothing really outstanding. Do you think the referee stole any of the team's match?

On the one hand I'm glad Spain won because I like the matchup better (yeah yeah better defense, attack pretty much just as scary if not more so... but Germany's midfield and their counter strategy is scary as hell with the issues the Dutch are having in the back).

On the other hand, I've been seriously considering changing my pick in pick 'em since the moment I clicked Germany, but I didn't, so we're still sitting at a 1 point separation heh.



Final is gonna be intense as fuck. 3rd place game is going to be crazy hard to pick, Germany should be able to handle them without a whole lot of trouble, but at the same time after such a letdown, and I'm sure Uruguay is way more excited to be playing for 3rd place... going to be a hard one to call.

I am actually a BIT surprised to hear crying about the ref(s) myself. I thought that the lack of cards kept both teams in the game a bit more. I do think that Germany could have been carded for a few dives, and I think that Spain could have been carded for a few hard tackles.

Over all though, I thought that the lack of MAJOR REFEREE FUCKUPS was refreshing.

It's been disappointing how often the refs have come up in discussion this year. I think Ravshan Irmatov (from yesterday's match) has done the best job overall so far. He maintained control of the game without becoming a part of it. His linesman failed...but all of them have been pretty crappy.

The ref had nothing to do with the outcome of this match. Germany just wasn't there today.

If it makes you feel any better, I switched mine from Spain to Germany last night. I had Spain in the final since the beginning (see my Knockout Bracket Pick Em), but Germany's blowout of Argentina convinced me to switch.
