Speaking of merits, I wonder what they're going to do with Protectra V/Shellra V. Presumably, WHM will get the single-target versions eventually, and it'll be a little awkward if we still have to spend merits to get the AoE versions.
The spell will probably count as a single "point" in Shellra 5 for example. Meaning if you have 5 merits, getting the spell might make it like 6, and if you didn't have any you'd have just 1 "merit" in it. That's the only way to do it that I can think of that isn't just retarded.
Well to be fair it may be valid but it's certainly not amazing anymore since there's something better for literally every job that doesn't involve getting lucky against bots which used to put the items out of the reach of most players.
Aurum lolaskar Korazin salvage gear, ACP bodies etc. even Ebody from Einherjar.
>_> you know I was thinking about this last night, for the trouble of getting a camp, why not just get someone whos interested in merits rather levels.
Level Sync to Them.
They get 8 merits
You get 2 levels
???
Profit!
Because
A. There's no guarantee you'll be able to enter merit mode until you hit the new cap
B. You need to be "able to gain experience points" to be the designee. I haven't tested it myself but I assume that bring in merit mode means you are not "able to gain experience points".
You can't sync to anyone who is "capped". Meaning, if you're at lvl 55 and never did genkai you can't sync to them and stay 55 forever.
Has anyone actually tried syncing to a 75 not capped in exp and in merit mode? You're still earning points while in merit mode and you're not capped.
Lower levels don't count.
That doesn't make much sense considering they want a new merit mode at 99.A. There's no guarantee you'll be able to enter merit mode until you hit the new cap
Merits are unlocked at 75, I don't see what's the problem with that.
..that's why after they unlock the new level cap you do that.
A - that makes no sense why take away what was already unlocked and we've had access to for such a long time? That's like saying 'okay now that you're getting access to Lv.80 we're taking away your Rajas/Tamas/Sattvas and going to instant ban you if you're in a party when you enter the new BCNMs.A. There's no guarantee you'll be able to enter merit mode until you hit the new cap
B. You need to be "able to gain experience points" to be the designee. I haven't tested it myself but I assume that bring in merit mode means you are not "able to gain experience points".
B - Limit points is pretty much the same thing as EXP no? That's like saying 'okay I'm going to cap out my buffer, but I need EVERYONE to switch to EXP so I can get EXP' when that is not the case :\
Limit points and EXP are not completely equivalent, or EXP scrolls would be able to give limit points.
In any case, level sync has numerous checks in place to prevent people from staying in a camp forever synced to the same level, by preventing EXP gain if the designee is out of range, dead, or capped. It's safe to say SE will not allow people to stay forever synced to 75.
Same answer as above, except substitute "syncing an entire party to 75 for eternity" with "ghetto-syncing yourself to 75 for eternity".that makes no sense why take away what was already unlocked and we've had access to for such a long time?
What? That doesn't make much sense considering they want a new merit mode at 99.
I don't remember that.
Mainly though, I was talking about the logic there, I don't follow it.
Why raise the requirement for the current merit system if there's going to be a new one at 99? It would make much more sense to keep the current merit system available from 75 up.
You basically want to have nothing but exp all the way to 99 and once you hit that level you have 2 merit systems in place?
Also, if they raise the level requirement all those merits will be completely useless until you hit the level cap (except a few). That would piss a lot of people off.
The requirement isn't being raised, the requirement is that you're at the level cap.
Also, you're pretending the level cap is being raised all the way to 99 in one update, which it isn't.
Lol I know it's not being raised at 99 right away but it will. Do you really think they'll screw over people like that? Taking away all those merit abilities and bonuses because it's no longer the level cap?
It's quite silly, especially if you're planning something else later on.
Also quite silly: Allowing people to voluntarily halt level progression at 75 (or whatever level range past 75 allows for the best EXP/hour) and take up camps people need to level on so they can gain merits.
Remember that merit points gained on one job can be used for any other, and that many people have more jobs than they're willing to take to 99.
I could have sworn i read somewhere SE was going to keep the current merits level 75 and add new merits at 99.
I could be wrong but I'm 90% positive i did =x
