Did they say what's going to happen to merits? No one's brought it up in this topic yet but I don't remember reading anything about it from Fanfest unless I overlooked it.

I've been wondering about this, too. Will you no longer be able to merit on 75 jobs? Meaning, better hurry up and get those merits before the cap gets raised?

I don't see why. You'll have to option to either merit or exp.
They're planning to have another merit system at 99 so I doubt they'll increase the required level to start the current merits.

Which peaks my interest as they make it sound like a completely new system alongside merits. So we'll have merits and the new system at 99?

Eh I wouldn't say that. NIN hardly needed an enmity boost as far as competing goes. Capping enmity isn't nins problem. Only reason I'd take PLD over nin is atonement and MDT. Tank jobs really need some beefing up when they don't hold a feather to rdm, drk, or just plain DD tanking :/.

I was talking about form SE's perspective. not my own. I already know most of my DD jobs can outtank pld and there's nothing wrong with a competent nin tank. The last time I tanked on nin the "superior pld tanks" couldn't even rip hate from me while i was terrorized most of the time. Unfortunately that was about a year or two ago.

Why would they remove the capability of switching to merit mode and not, when you earned the access of the system by unlocking it when you talk to maat? that seems kinda ass backwards.

What would be a good tank? what they need to do is fix the system on DEF so there is a slight PDT-% added on to certain tiers, making it actually useful for when a tank gets hit, rather switching to a set that is just straight PDT-%

If its a drop item you'll be smart to try and merc it off after you get one for yourself , assuming its not like ancient papyrus's drop rate FUCK THAT ITEM!

I hope they won't make liars of themselves and have genkai 5 be the last like they promised. Odds are 76-80 will create enough of a bottleneck without adding a quest to drag out the process.

I think they would have mentioned something about it, at vana'fest they just simply shown the RDM and SMN leveling up off of a normal mob, so.. lets hope for the best!

Mithra RNG/COR + Annihilator w/ +6 dmg aug + hightail bullet = fun. If you also add dispelled and sleep too the mix increases some fun solo options for rng.
