I hope you can move the action bar now.
Thanks, seems a bit more complicated than XI, but what can ya do.
If you played FFXI with a controller its feels like the same thing. Except one of the macros you have to hit constantly is your regular attack.
Assuming they don't allow macros and gear swaps (Oh Gods SE please listen and do not allow this crap) it should actually be a lot simpler than FFXI, because instead of having to write pseudo-code command line crap in each macro slot, instead you just have action bars where all your spells and attacks go, and you press them, exactly like you would a macro.
Simple.

Awesome videos. If I was unsure of what class and race to pick before, now I'm completely at a loss haha.
Right now in the alpha it's possible to change your armor by putting your weapon away, regardless of whether you currently have aggro. I hope to god this is a glitch.
Also, though I wouldn't want to play FFXI without gear swaps, it's a fundamentally flawed system that is only necessary in FFXI because itemization is way too ultra-specialized, and yet being ultra-specialized and simply using a single set of equipment is a terrible idea in that game.
DO you really enjoy having to blink in and out of existence like a lightbulb that has control over time and space is shorting out every half a second? I don't even see most of the spells I cast as RDM because I'm too busy blinking out of existence, and thus the particle effect does not play.
It breaks the immersion, and it's stressful to boot, especially when you need to change 6+ pieces of gear a spell.
I agree that the whole blinking is annoying and ultra-specialized gear is too. However, what I am saying is that I did enjoy alot of gear for the simple look of it and the different looks you could put together for your class. I only ever played FFXI and Aion and when I played Aion I missed that. All I'm saying is that it would be nice in my opinion to have some situational gear to provide the player with a freedom to dress your character in different ways not only dye gear different colors. But than again, like in 11 you can stack all the jobs on one character unlike in Aion where you had to create character for each class so may not be too bad.

The character customization looks nice. There's plenty of options with colors and looks. It's nice that you can use any amount of the available customizations at the end also. It could use a few more hair styles though.
Gear swapping in the middle of battle is complete and utter retardation. Here's to hoping it's completely gone.
I didn't think so, I liked it.
It gave a purpose to a lot of equipment that would have been useless otherwise.
That's the way I see it.
If the mechanics aren't shit then there wouldn't be a need to constantly change equipment just to cast a spell. You would actually have use for your equipment outside of this meta crap.
I liked the idea of dynamically changing stats. In a way it turned your equipment menu into a board game of sorts where you played the best pieces for your situation in real time.
Unfortunately, that was never the intended direction of the game, and so the implementation of this game element was completely and horribly awful. Had this been separate from armor (preferably armor would mostly be aesthetic) and laid out in a way that made it accessible (not relying on hamfisting it into macros, not having limited inventory, not blinking, etc.) then it could have been a superb feature that enriched the game well beyond its natural life.
Oh wellz.
