It would have literally been the equivalent of jumping 3 or 4 tiers in WoW sets.
Yes, that is exactly right; they learned from Kings, which is why I don't think it would be a wise move to do something completely different this time, rather than use that knowledge to make an endgame which is much better from the get-go rather than deal with another lack of hindsight situation when SE implements something "revolutionary" and a year later we have a 2005 Dragon's Aery situation all over again, whatever that may be this time.

I understand where you are coming from, but I'd honestly rather wade through a NEW pile of shit than a pile of shit that looks and smells the same as the pile of shit I waded through years ago. I seriously doubt SE is going to screw up their actual gear sets: I'm more concerned that they won't shy away from their competitive (read: bot-crazy) world HNM scene. I'd rather they do it through secret or hard-to-obtain special guildelves and/or instanced "Batallion" fights that they mentioned would feature linkshells teaming up to bring down a big nasty.
Well that's how SE operated in XI in the first place- first there was Dyna, then there was Limbus, then there was Salvage (and Einherjar and Nyzul)- all the same in the core but different enough to be considered "new pile of shit". You can't just lump them together into "raids" because of the obvious differences.

If they give me another Dynamis, or another Limbus, or another Salvage I'll be disappointed, because that's not the kind of endgame I am used to seeing from SE- I want to see something at least somehow different, as the tradition is. Sometimes it's a hit, sometimes it's a miss, but at least they can avoid totally fucking things up like with the 3½h pain in the ass or 3h window kick in the nuts the first time they tried it.

Lets stop worrying about the end-game of a game that hasn't even launched, PLEASE. Christ, this is taking all the fun out of just being that new guy in a new world, even if the world is just a fancied up old world.

I'm having fun -now- playing the Alpha, I'll have fun playing the beta, and I'll have a ton of fun playing retail. I'm playing more for getting old friends back in the same house than I am for rushing to get back to the Aery v2.0. I never liked the first one, and I'll be damned if I'm going to plow through excellent early and mid-game meat just to come back to BG whining about end-game when I set myself up for failure by rushing in the first place.

Judge SE with your money, Hyan. If they screw it up, when the time comes, leave, but seriously, lets leave this end-game nonsense out of the conversation for awhile. We literally have NOTHING to go on but speculation, and this isn't even the speculation thread.

Now -that- is much faster than FFXI, finally. That's some real good Lance attack speed there. That's really no slower than WoW's 2-handed swings (considered by many to be the definition of a reactionary twitch game), its just that there are less special attacks cycled in with the normals, but I approve of the beta's speed thus far.

Can't believe Elvaans actually look (and run) half decent in this game.

Also fucking players that don't know how to play the game! Just attack the damn dodo already, fuck.

Well they still run hunched over, but I guess being taller than everyone and everything thing else makes it hard to aim straight or up.

Their head lacks that "chicken" like motion while moving which is why I hated them so much in XI..

Well shit, with their long necks, they'd probably run around with the head cut off, just like a chicken.

SE really should release videos of pcs fighting big "epic" monters or parties taking on said monsters if they really want to hype the game. I'm sure not very many people will be entranced by some pcs attacking oversized fauna.

Honestly, watching the E3 vids of Rift have me more excited than these XIV ones.

Indeed, show some of the positional features too like the ARC skill which hits all the mobs between you and your target, shit like that which is seemingly a big part of the whole combat. Also get better players to show off the gameplay, these people just suck (Tanaka too, less boring talk more ACTION).

These guys are bad at PR presentation to be perfectly honest, lol. Western devs are always eager to talk about how "this feature X will be so cool and awesome" with epic gameplay on the background while SE releases a "MISSION IMPOSSIBLE" video. gg.

Kinda like when I watch any PR vid of SW TOR I think the game itself is shit but the presentation is superb with in-game musics playing in the background and the very professional look. Very appealing.

A trailer with a short slide of alot of pc's fighting some really huge, bad ass looking dragon would surely be a defining moment. You'd see people launching into space with rockets strapped to their ass.

Yess, not just in-game cs about titans and ifrits but actual combat too.

I'd settle for an in-game version of the battle against the Malboro from the trailer last year. They really need to start showing some "many vs one" or "many vs many" gameplay to sell this.

The game looks amazing and we all know that - now show us that its gonna be fun to play.

Exactly. The game looks nice, but they need to showcase exciting gameplay if they really want to sell this to people who aren't familiar with ffxi already. Or if they want to make it seem ffxiv is more exciting than ffxi.

Looks like they're really just out to please the old FFXI players who stuck around and those who left for greener pastures. Strange to see a company that pretty much admits that it isn't expecting a lot of new players, just old FFXI players who wanted an easier time soloing and whatnot.

On one hand, I like seeing a company all but admit that their old system was flawed and that they want old players to try the new system, but damn, guys, you can stop bowing to us old players any time now.

All right folks here's your confirmation that male Miqo'te won't be a playable race.
Eorzeapedia: There is a growing group in the community who would like to see the implementation of Male Miqo’te and Female Roegadyn in FINAL FANTASY XIV. Are there plans to make these yet to be seen gender and race combination playable? If not, what made you decide not to work them into FINAL FANTASY XIV.

Tanaka: Actually all of the design is ready, so we were planning to implement them into the game, however during the development process we had to put priority with what to put into the game, and due to the man power issue we had to give up implementing them into the beginning of the game. You will see them as an NPC, but it is not a race that you can choose at the beginning. We’ll see how it goes in the future, it might be a possiblity. We are still looking into it.
