Or a giant vagina monster that shoots energy beams.
Vagina do capture males audiance. It would probably works.
I wouldn't expect any footage showing high level stuff to be released until a month or so before launch.
Well, if they're doing the same thing as WoW did back then (pull gamers from other genres and playstyles to play your game and not steal them from other MMO's), there's potential 5mil+ customers and if they can impress them, I don't think there's need to impress people playing WoW.
Although I don't think they've done a good job at it so far, that's what they implied back then when the game was first announced. If they can get at least half of those 5 million people to give this game a go, that's significant userbase right there already if they like the game.
I think that'd be a lot more.. 'healthy' way to do it. I like how Blizzard did it back then, could see S-E do the same here.
The game is getting horrible feedback. The booth was indeed full, but not many people were impressed with the battle system still even with it's improvements. Maybe they need to see what it was before, but useless if the more speedy system is still deemed slow. Gamers want combat to be irrationally fast.
Square had the right idea creating a new battle system for XIV, however, it's looking like a swing and a miss according to the E3 audience. New = great -Auto-Attack = disinterest. I don't think Square will budge on this battle system. They are set on not having auto attack and that alone looks like it's gonna hurt them.
Personally, I don't mind it. I'm still excited for this game and if it turns out to have FFXI's population amount in the 2004-2007's I'll be happy.
Hopefully they use this feedback for our advantage. Honestly, feedback on stupid quests like kill 5 chickens is useless in the long run, but maybe they will be like "hey this game needs more normal attacks and better monster AI" or some shit.
This game DOES need more normal attacks. A single animation for piercing/slashing/blunt attacks, with a single animation per weapon for crit hits. That's not enough, even if you are only hitting the 1 key over and over to achieve them.
There's still time to improve the system.
Now that there's "light slash" and other "light X" normal attacks, I could see them adding a "strong slash" or something similar.
Also, those target icons are still horrrrible, that's the first thing I'll report once I get in (OB, no doubt).
It's not about instant gratification, that term is really over used big time. It's about combat being able to respond as quickly as i can think it. I want difficulty in strategy and not to be tied down to ridiculous game mechanics that exist just to exist.
That core community you speak of is also long gone, i mean just look how far this forum has degrading over the last 2 years. I do agree it was great around '04-'05 but now it's like listening to people i have on my vent that play WoW.
yeah i agree, i think the major thing not exciting people about this system isnt the speed really, its seeing cool looking and varied attacks, the damage and speed can be the same, but I want to to see more exciting new movements.
Far as ai, the ai is pretty varied and deep for an mmo, but how people gonna feel about that i dunno, most people would be mad if the computer ran away from thier ws (which does happen in alpha) least you dont lose tp.
thing is alderan about the fast as you can think it actions, dif people think at different speeds, and people starting a game take awhile to think at speeds, and some people hate action speed rpgs, they like time to think in thier rpgs, I have heard people complaining that teh current pace of the beta is twitchy. The key is to balance everything so it appeals to your key demographics, not saying thier suceeding, but i think its not as simple as some would make it seem
am i late to hearing the news or did everyone already know that they said that Alpha ends this week and Tanaka will be prepping Beta when he flies back to Japan?
We found that out maaybe 2 days ago? :D
