There are interviews from E3 both vid and written, also translations on eorzeawiki of japanese mags/interviews but not sure if Elmer has posted them here yet. 3 E3 Live reports from the ffxiv official utoob also but I do not know how deep into mechanics it gets compared to your present knowledge.
Also on 17th june a nice E3 interview from Massively.com was just posted, with Tanaka. He goes into FFXI as well in comparing the amount of content, battle and general difficulty and complexity of FFXI to that of XIV. He mentions how many UI ability slots will be available, duration of story line, levees etc.
i believe the order was
Manaburns - black mages AMing and Ga-ing stuff down.
(old school) Astralburns - just SMNs whoring skeletons in KRT.
Arrowburns - RNGs in pts that raped places like Ru Avitau
Axeburns - dualwielders ruling, especially those with multihit, up to early ToAU
Poleburn - post 2h weapon patch. Polearm gained dominance by virtue of the emergence of Greater Colibri camp.
and concurrently Manaburns again for the BLMs who have no place in the other burn.
Neo Astralburns - SMNs 2hring a gajillion mobs in zones like Korroloka
This was back on page 10, but I was running through some photos and found that there is some evidence of this.

Single strikes happen basically any time, from what I have seen, but triple striking always seems to include at least one miss, meaning your total damage is still only 2 strikes.
No idea what the message about seeing the enemy's attack is about.
Meh, there weren't enough strictly drg parties to make a true Poleburn party in TOAU. There was still an anti-drg bias at the threshold of TOAU, and at best, you'd see maybe 1-2 drgs in a burn party - it was still wars, mnks and especially sams cleaning up.
It takes a long, long time to change player perceptions, and that's why I'm really, really hoping that SE balances the shit out of the classes before FFXIV hits the stores. Nobody should have to go through that shit again.
Preach it. Nothing was worse than leveling DRG back in 03-04. The hours spent walking back and forth in Jeuno waiting for an exp invite.
Thief was worse. At least pre-dynamis drg/sam owned souls. But yeah, manaburns were first. Rng-burns followed. But during the same time frame all jobs were "burning" to reach upwards of an amazing 12k/hr in sky on weapons. (If you weren't using both rooms in a given place, you weren't burning.)
Granted, people would still sometimes save tp for a few seconds to make a skillchain it was very much a burn party.
So how about that Final Fantasy XIV @ E3?
Two char creation vids that have probably been posted but didn't see in the OP. Yes I'm vain and in-game looks are very important to me :D

I kind of hope SE might release a char creation teaser app... similar to the feature they had on their website pre-FFXI and EA did for The Sims 2... that would definitely hold me off even if I don't get into beta for another few months.
I don't think SE will be finished with the creator before close to the release.. they'll keep adding more options most likely, but we might get one to play with a month before release or so?
Also, more gameplay vids:

Its looking great, I best get saving my wages to pay for a new computer!
Good ammo for "FFXIV looks boring" club![]()
I am liking that updated mini-map in beta, I must say.
What's the difference? Is it smaller this time?
No, for starters its an actual "map" (you know, traditional paper map color, ect.), rather than a semi-transparent guide that, while getting the job done, was very poor at determining things like terrain dips and gradations, which is EXTREMELY important (seriously) in a MMO that doesn't allow you to walk off even the smallest of depressions/ledges/mini-cliffs.
Since you constantly have to find the little path in each of the "beautiful, spacious and immersive cliff sides" - and there are MANY of these cliff sides - having a mini-map that can actually point you in the right direction instead of forcing you to either run around both sides looking for the unmarked path, or opening your main map (and sitting through the 3-5 second delay trying to bring it up - yes I KNOW its alpha) and checking the big one.
I hope they clean up the chat clutter. What need is there for "Readying Light Thrust...." ? They just need to leave in the info of actual importance (X has removed Y effect from Z Monster, etc)
