lol
so that's why i've suddenly changed from a stubborn lover who loves red wine and a good book into a cool-headed party animal that demands attention.
How do you go and change sign months. gemini for life fuck that shit
It's not even like that changed it 1 day, they shifted that shit an entire month lmao.
This is ruining my life
Well I guess that explains why my horoscopes were so wrong my entire life. I knew it wasn't because the premise was shit, I was just reading the wrong horoscope!
Probably been said in the 10 or so pages I haven't read, but here goes:
1. Confirmation bias.
Your brain remembers the "accurate" horoscopes better than the inaccurate ones, making them seem more prevailant than they actually are.
2. Tired but nonetheless relevant proverb: a broken watch is correct twice a day. Some horoscopes are bound to be "surprinsingly accurate", by simple way of statistics.
3. Deliberately vague (and usually meliorative) language. That's the basis of the whole thing, by using generic terms that are open to interpretation, they produce exerpts that most people will identify with.
<cue experiment about a university teacher giving a personality analysis based on astrology to his students, 80% of them judging it accurate before he revealed they all had the same text>
According to astrologists, I'm aquarius.Originally Posted by Mayareira

Astrology is a lot like religion in many respects, chief of them the fact that they tend to disagree and claim their sub-style of astrology is the only true one, the other practitionners lie/are wrong.
This is old news
yes, I follow everything astrology related religiously
why the fuck are some signs like 5 weeks and then scorpio gets 6 days lol
I'M A FUCKING SCORPION DAMNIT
Cool, I'm a Leo now... I'll kind of miss Virgo, the archetype at least did fit my personality in more than a few ways (usually portrayed as bookish etc), which I always found mildly amusing. But lions are awesome.
so what happens if you were born on august 10th? trying to figure that out for my friend. IS HE A CANCEROUS LION?
A lion with crabs...
Wait, isn't this just the difference between the sidereal and tropical: http://astro-calendar.com/pics/tropi...l/image008.gif
...or what?
I don't believe in Astrology or God or anything. However, if there's any truth to astrology, I believe it's not in a mystical magic way but in a way bound by the laws of physics. Perhaps the seasonal effects of the environment and position of the heavenly bodies in some way DOES make small changes on how you'll turn out. The amount of UV radiation and atmosphere in general during the Winter Solstice is much different than Summer for example and it might slightly alter your DNA or brain or something when you're born (along with the prior months you spent in the womb with your mother, also absorbing environmental factors) which can manifest as certain traits which can be consolidated into certain personality "types" like signs, and signs may just be a collection of things people have noticed that may people who are born on certain days may share. No one truly understands how the universe works so there's many unknown factors which affect everyone's development and it need not be magical for it to have an effect. For all we know Jupiter's gravity or whatever in some way DOES affect you from whatever series of minute events, kinda like a buttefly effect. Just being exposed to something changes you in some way, so I guess if astrology does have some basis in fact it's from cosmological/environmental factors we don't understand that come together to have some sort of effect on people.
Of course that doesn't change the fact that horoscopes and whatnot are terribly vague and the whole bias factor of "OMG THIS TOTALLY SOUNDS LIKE ME" just because it has "you" on it
Pardon me but do you have any great pupon?
Wow. My new sign actually applies to how I am now.
But I don't want to be a Capricorn!
