I'm really sad he's working for the Wings, because if he wasn't, then he'd more than likely be hanging out at the UC as a Hawk's ambassador with the rest of the legends. One day maybe.

In seriousness, if there wasn't an official press conference I'd still be pretty skeptical that he was actually going to retire lol. He did state that he's not leaving the door open for any possible comebacks, and is definitely done for good...though he did also say a long time ago that he'd rather not play in the NHL than play for the Wings, so I guess we can't rule anything out.

That one is defiently more reasonable, 6.5mil cap hit this time around. I'm skeptical but they already allowed similar ones through. They just need to re-work it so the cap hit is based on current year, not average over the life. It's just too big of a loophole.

$10m still isn't a boatload of encouragement to play the last 5 years when you've already made $93m, but if there's a no-movement clause so they can't bail out when he's older it'll probably go through.

They went a different way, and added the 3 mil and 4 mil at the end to make it look not as bad but im sure he still doesnt plan to even collect those years so why does he really care? He collects 90 mil the first 10 years of the deal, then retires. He gets his money, devils are off the hook.

Just have a feeling it wont go though because its basically the same as before. 90% of the contract paid up front.

I wish I would have gotten in on Hawks tickets sooner in my life, not that I could afford them then anyway, but it's like a 2 year wait to get off the waiting list now, ridiculous.

Penguins add 3rd Pre-season home game, vs Columbus, entirely free for all youth in Pittsburgh. 8,000 tickets are going for free to 18 to 24 y/o Penguins "Student Rush" members and the rest are being donated to local youth league teams and youth orginizations.

The Penguins have done some pretty cool things, letting everyone get photos with the cup, players always showing up with Pizzas and free shit for people in the Student Rush line hours before the game, etc, but this by far takes the cake. To schedule an entire 3rd bonus pre-season home game so all the youth of Pittsburgh can experience the new stadium is beyond real. They're dubbing it like "the Ultimate Home Game" and a local orginization is helping sponsor it to highlight the careers available or emerging in Pittsburgh. Soooooooooo awesome.

More Kovalchuk bullshit. League extends their decision to Friday. Speculation is they have quietly rejected the contract and are trying to get another passed quickly to avoid arbitration. Enjoy the KHL kovie!

ugggh just saw the Niemi news...good for him, he deserves to get a job on a premiere team, and he should pair well with Nittymaki, but sucks seeing him go to a conference rival. Has to be weird for the Sharks fans after he stoned the crap out of them on those two 45-shot games.
