Well the NHL signed off on the Kova deal.

And along with it their new parts of the CBA passed, at least the 40+ age/salary thing did.

And despite my jokes about the Pens having an entire team of centers, the Comrie signing is fantastic, it could end up being the best of the offseason. And yeah he has a net worth of $750m+ so I'm sure he's not terribly worried about making league minimum even though he deserved more.

Comrie is doing what I think most free agents will at this point, which is take a minimum offer from a contender rather than play in Europe. Try and win a Cup and have a big season, then cash in next summer. Good signing by the Pens.

Halak signed with St Louis for a million more a year cap hit. Montreal made the same choice Chicago made with Turco. Decent goalie for cheaper $$

Turco, a slightly aged goaltender, but proven winner at the NHL level, is getting 1.3m/year

according to nhlnumbers.com, Price is slated to make almost as much this season (2.5m) as Halak (2.75m). I'm still a Price supporter, he needs to get his head on straight, etc...he's proven he has what it takes (World Jp Champ, AHL winner, AHL mvp, etc).


I asked my boss if Price can get a huge raise and get a 5.5m/2year salary, I deserve a raise from 10$ to 20$....he didnt find it funny

Cheechoo gets a tryout with the Stars. As much as I'd love to see him succeed I know its not going to happen, and even if he did do awesome enough to warrant a low risk contract, he'd just falter out mid season. His conditioning simply isn't there. I'd rather use the 2nd line RW spot to give Bruunstrom another chance.

After playing it til 5 AM, I can honestly say NHL11 kicks major ass. Things I do not like with it though:

--Penalty incidence in online mode is a little high.
--There's a new cheap-ish goal for this year's edition that already we witnessed 3 different people trying to abuse.
--Ultimate Team mode starts you with ALL shitty people (you're lucky if you have even 1 person rated a 70), unlike demo mode which gave you a mix of shitty and good.
--Ultimate Team mode, when playing online with your team against other Ultimate Teams, does not allow you to have "Guests" (multiple people playing on the same team from one PS3). Its 1 vs 1 only.

Its a great game though and I dont need to make a list of everything I like because thats basically everything about the game that I didn't say here.

It is here too! But shit is still open everywhere. I still worked. The mall was still open in the evening. Gamestop still did a midnight game launch. Labor Day my ass, I worked a full shift. Infact, the phone store at the mall said they had EXTRA people working that day to accomodate the anticipated higher-than-usual customer base.
