2010 NHL Offseason Thread

All the rumors about signing him revolved around trading Fleischmann. With the Caps keeping Flash and looking to use him at center, Belanger became expendable. I liked him but he just didn't produce. Hope he's a good fit for Phoenix.

It is a decent pickup for Phoenix relative to the rest of their club, but they still took some heavy losses this summer. They really grew on me last year, I hope they stay competitive.

Now that the honeymoon phase is over, how is NHL 11? I haven't picked up a hockey game from EA since 2000 but have an itch to start playing again.

I do now possess a copy of NHL11 for PS3, ID is Nalso if any of you guys want to hit me up this afternoon. Will probably be working on adding all my goal songs/horns for a bit but will be around all day.

It's honestly, honestly, the best hockey game ever made. It might be hard for you to jump right into if you haven't played '08 or up, but the depth, graphics, and animations are just insane. So far to me the best part is that in this installment compared to the last 2-3 years, you get rewarded more in terms of scoring goals by playing as if you're playing hockey rather than as if you're playing a videogame.

edit: Like I said, the controls will take a bit to get used to, especially if you're a button-masher. A lot of the shot aiming/stick-handling/passing is pressure-sensitive, so you can't just go full-tilt on the the buttons at all times.

lol...I'm not really an offensive machine in these games typically, but my first two online games have been nuts, first one I scored 4 goals on 12 shots, second game I had 4 more on 11 shots in the 2nd period before the server d/c'd us, with 3 of the 8 goals being short-handed.

It wasn't too bad, a couple of tips just from stuff I saw you doing:

1) Mainly just don't commit so early on defense, especially on a 1on1/2on1, hang back in the passing lane a bit longer and force the offensive player to pick a path.

2) When you take shots as you come into the zone, especially slappers, aim low instead of high, this has a much higher chance of creating rebounds you can pop in.

And don't worry about not scoring goals on me lol, the guy I play against on a daily basis is a fucking offensive savant at these games, I'm a hell of a lot better defensively than I am offensively simply because I have to be to compete against him.
