Wow. That's a lot just for the right to offer him a deal before July 1st. I will laugh if he doesn't sign with Philly and waits till free agency.

As per terms of the deal, Flyers would get a 7th round pick in 2011 if Hamhuis doesn't sign with the Flyers.

The flyers also don't have a 1st or 2nd rd pick until 2012.

I'm fairly certain they have a 1st rounder in 2011. They only gave up 09s and 10s 1st rounders for Pronger.

I do wonder who's going to be out in Philly though, they don't have a lot of cap room left and still have their forwards to re-sign, and I'm guessing they're not going to put all their chips on Boucher for next season so they'll be needing a goalie, too.

Flyers have almost $9mil in cap space. not many people know this, but Mike Rathje's contract is finally off the books (3.5mil)

I wonder how much Hamhuis is asking? I can't imagine it's any less than 5mil per year, but Philly should be able to pay that and still stick with their original offseason plan, whatever it is.

The market for Defensmen is pretty weak this year so I can see him asking for a lot.

I'd see him getting 4m~, but that only leaves them with about 4.2~ to resign Asham who's probably due for a raise, Coburn, Carcillo(lol) and/or Powe, and then decide if they're willing to ride Boucher as their #1 next year. Biron's on the market again, lol.

It does puzzle me a bit why they made this move, unless they know that they're not going to be able to keep Coburn. It's really the only way this trade makes sense in a cap-controlled NHL. If you think about it, the money that they spend on Hamhuis could have easily been used to secure a decent goalie since there are a TON heading for free agency.

Point made, but Naby gets a lot of undeserved shit for the Sharks recent struggles in the playoffs. It's a shame only him and Pat Marleau were playing in the WCF.

In my opinion Nabby gets played way too much in the regular season and by the time the playoffs roll around, he's dead tired, and that's not good considering he is 35 years old. Look at the teams who made it further in the playoffs, they either had younger goaltenders, or goalies who played less than 40 games in the regular season.

Maybe, maybe not. Latest I've read is they may be looking to add another top 6 forward. If they can't find a 2C they might move Fleischmann or Laich to C full-time. In a word, MEH.

Ugh, Penguins signed Lovejoy to three year, two-way contract. At least he's cheap as hell, but I'm not expecting too much from him, at best he's a replacement to Eaton (which isn't saying much).
