Versteeg was assumed to be, probably still is, though Byfuglien being traded was kind of out of left field. I figured they'd be trying to keep Buff and Sharp though.

It's not just Byfuglien, Sopel is one of the best character/community guys to ever wear a Blackhawks uniform and stepped up his play huge in the playoffs. Ben Eager is, well, Ben Eager, but he was cheap and played his ass off in the time that he got.

But yeah, Byfuglien is a lot better than his stats show. He has unnaturally good hands for a guy his size, and he may not score a ton of goals, but he has a tendency to score the ones that matter.

With Eager gone rather than keeping Burish maybe they'll scrap him too and bring up Kyle Beach or something.

I actually mean that. Reasoner is a great character guy, helluva faceoff man.
The Sakic thing was because he wore #19 when he was here and when he first broke in the league with St Louis, he was supposed to be a crazy sniper. haha

As much as I like that trade for Chicago, sad to see Big Buff go. Thought he was a great fit for the team and the city. But I'll get to see him throw down in the Southeast now, so bonus for me. Also looking forward to Joe B and Locker pronouncing his name.

Only loss to the Hawks is Eager imo. Buffy this season has gotten better as a 2-way player, but his "hotness" during the playoffs doesn't seem like a regular thing. As for Sopel. Lol. Not sure what Atlanta hopes to do with the players picked up as none of them are corner-stone or anything major. GJ to the Hawks for doing some major salary dumping.
