    Pierre is so gay.

Both my teams let me down hard tonight. Rangers had a chance to get a top 5 projected Defensemen and instead go with a goon bottom 3 pairing guy because he can fight. If nothing else they could have taken Tarensenko (sic) for the offensive boost they need. Sather needs to get fired like 5 years ago.

Stars take Campbell over Fowler or Gormley when we have NO GOOD DMEN in our farm system. We're seriously empty. Did Niewy seriously think in 5 years Campbell will help our team more than the offensive upside of Fowler or the solid top pairing skills of Gormely? Seriously? We JUST traded for Kari Lehtonen this year. Yes he's injury prone but he's the gamble we took for our goalie of the future. And when was the last time a first round Goalie became a significant elite goalie? Jesus..

Not only that but the goalie market is so saturated right now. If Kari goes down we could get Elis or Biron as our backup for cheap. In pure assets term this is a horrible decision. In the best case scenario if both Lehtonen and Campbell turn into solid #1 Goalies, the trade value for goalies is going to be really bad for the next few years, as teams are moving away from the "#1 high paid goalie" model to favor the Detroit model is cheap, average goalies and stacked blue lines. We'd be so much better with a #1 Defensemen like Fowler or a #2 like Gormley in trade value.

Niewy really let me down tonight. He's not made good hockey decisions in his tenure as a GM. It's obvious he's not up with the times as far as building a team goes, and still is an old school thinker. I'm getting to the point where I hope our new owner replaces him with someone a bit more savvy and ready for the next decade in the NHL.

I was pretty wtf @ the Rangers' pick too, that's a pretty damn high pick for a guy described as "not a whole lot of skill, and not a good decision-maker" after he gets picked lol

As bad as the rangers pick was Vancouver really shit the sheets IMO Grabner has great potential, Bernier could of been better and I believe he would have been better next year. I don't know a lot about either of the players van gets in return all I know is Etem was still available for Vancouver to pick they could have given a 2011 first rounder instead but they didn't and who knows how it will end up. Get bertuzzi back please Gilis.

I know its late, but Jimmy Howard not getting the Calder is egregious.

All the other awards I agree with.

As for the draft, I think the top two picks are correct and pretty much what everyone expected amirite? Havnt had time to delve into the rest of the draft cause I've been at work.

Also: This Atlanta-Chicago trade is getting a shitton of coverage here in Georgia. Good coverage for the Thrashers, who desperately need some publicity.

Thank you NYR for drafting MacIlrath at #10.
The Oilers were ready to part with Penner/O'Sullivan to FLA if he was still available at #15.

Quite a few picks off the board.
I feel bad for the ones who flew in from wherever just to not be picked on Day 1.

So what team is gonna take the major risk on Kirill Kabanov?
Projected at the start of the year to be a top 5 pick, but attitude and the fact he's Russian means no teams even looked at him in round 1.

I hadn't realized before, but someone brought up a good point that they may be trying to play to a largely black population with the young black players. It hadn't registered at first about Aliu also being black, but between Kane and Buff they have some pretty charismatic brown people which may help their marketability locally, pretty much an entire line of them.

I know Vancouver was considering him. If he's still available when the Canucks get their next pick I could see them picking him.

I thought the Canucks already met their quota of guys who liked to fight but couldn't quite play hockey.

There's always room for more! /cry

Edit: Local papers are also saying that the Canucks still want to go for Hamhuis and will likely trade Bieksa to make it happen.

Too late it seems, Dan Hamhuis to Penguins for a 3rd rounder.

    Hamhuis rights

I have hope Shero-san can seal a long-term with Hamhuis. Flyers GM said they were unable to negotiate terms and conditions for a contract, here's to hoping he wanted something a bit longer than whatever they offered.
