We should just sign Gonchar and Hamhuis and leave our wingers as they are. We finished fifth in scoring with a terrible PP and Malkin having an off-year, while using third-line wingers on every line. Shero should just focus on defense.

Thats the other thing I've heard, Hamhuis doesn't look like he's going to sign with the Penguins before July 1st. It sounds like he still wants to go out west. On the flip side, the Canucks may shop Bieksa around, maybe the Penguins could pick him up, he's decent on the PP if he manages to hit the net. Defensive liability though.
Habs trade Sergei Kostitsyn to Nashville for Dan Ellis + Dustin Boyd + future considerations.
Edit: Jesus, I just checked and everyone of those players contract was going to expire July 1st. So weird.

Dan seems pretty stoked and ready to get it done so yeah it could be a great steal for Montreal.
On the other hand if the Pens get some non-shit wingers they can go the traditional 2 lines + (Staal and) a bucket of shit instead of what they run now, 3 centers and a bucket of shit. Gonchar isn't worth a long term contract at this point, and certainly not worth much money given that his combined skating and defensive ability is close to nil.
One of the leagues worst PPs - Sergi Gonchar for puck carrying / quarterbacking - Bill Guerin who is the only player on the team willing to be a net presence = ???
Not that I'd go out of my way to compliment him, but at least on the PP Crosby does a good job of getting down low and setting up in front of the net, but without any forwards once that top PP line comes off after the first 60 seconds things look pretty awful.
They need wings. If they could sign Hamhuis and Gonchar at lower rates(not going to happen) they could theoretically have enough left over to at least make a respectable run at someone like Lee Stempniak.
They should get Frolov, someone to take the heat off of Malkin for generally not giving a shit.
Turco apparently turned down a 3 year, $6m deal from the Flyers.
Free agent "Frenzy" starts tomorrow. Gotta say I'm not overly excited about it. The media hype it up way too much now when really a couple of major players will get half a dozen contracts thrown at them and then the rest of the players will slowly sign new deals.
I'm still interested to see where Kovalchuk goes and if Vancouver can move Bieksa and get a new dman and some 3rd line players with some size but I'm not expecting all of that to be sorted out tomorrow.
Any players you guys are keeping an eye on?
Free agency isn't gonna be big for the Flyers, I just hope they don't do anything rash with the goalie situation.
I wouldn't mind trading Carter for Bobby Ryan though.
I just hope the Kings add something decent.
yeah, yeah, I know Kovie but I just really have a feeling he wont be coming here.
