So apparently the Wings are having a meeting tomorrow with Modano to make him a 1 or 2 year offer. Gonna go ahead and say that the Stars are gonna look pretty shitty if he signs with Detroit since it will likely be pretty cheap, and he will be centering the 3rd line unless they move Filppula down to 3rd and have him go on the 2nd (unlikely since the org. said they want this to be a growing year for Fil).

I'm more just pissed off at him for all this bullshit. His actions remind me of Alexei Yashin years back holding out on the Sens, and the whirlwind that turned into. Regardless, I can't see how the Devils are going to be able to afford him. There was an article on TSN that pointed out the Devils will be 3.8m over cap if they do the 7 year, $60 million contract.

also, so far the funniest arbitration filing is Wisniewski with Anaheim, the guy's a #4 D at best and is asking for like $4m+ a year. Who does he think he is, Brian Campbell?

I could see them turning it around pretty quickly. Boyes had an awful season but they've got a ton of cap room and some good young pieces. Next summer Backes and Brewer will be UFAs so it will be interesting to see if they build around them. Also wondering what kind of deal Erik Johnson will get. You've gotta think they're planning on extending them all, or else the Halak deal doesn't make much sense.

For what its worth, Sergi Gonchar, an ex-Capital, said in a parting interview for a Pittsburgh newspaper that Pittsburgh was the first time he ever played in front of a crowd that was crazy about hockey and a good set of fans.

At another point in the interview, he also said that factored into his decision to go to Ottawa - that he didn't want to sign for anywhere where hockey would play second fiddle (*cough Florida*).

To be fair, he played for the Capitals before Ovechkin ever played there and pre-lockout. Same thing could be said of many places, including Pittsburgh before Crosby.

God, has Kovalchuk signed with somebody yet? I hear that New Jersey is trying to make cap room for his overpaid ass. Curious to see what his numbers will look like in NJ with their system. Hasn't signed yet but the grumblings are that they're just waiting on space to be made before the deal is finalized. Also lol @ the biggest offensive free agent of the last decade likely going to the least offensive team of the last decade. Hope he likes what playing the trap does to his scoring stats.
