If you look at Kovy purely on his stats, he's the 2nd best scorer in the league. Ovechkin is the only person to have more goals then him in the past 5 years. However if you look deeper Kovy is a very one sided & selfish player. His play last season showed no team as he tried to do it all and failed. If money is the issue, he should just go to the KHL. 3 teams are rumored to be after him LA, NYI & NJ. Whoever signs him will be overpaying. Lol.

That is a nice deal for the Caps, he provided some good leadership on the ice after Clark was traded away.

I'm starting to feel old, I turned 30 a week ago.

I live in NYC, and I've been to both arenas, though not for hockey games. Nassau is old, junky, and really just not nice aesthetically. I was recently @ The Prudential center for a concert, in the upper bowl. The first thing I noticed is due to how the arena is designed, the sections are steeper, making you closer to the ice and more above it. Basically better angle/sightline. First thing I thought was it's gotta be a cool place to see a game. And much better amenities. Tix to either game should be easy to find (Isles probably more so) and pretty cheap.

And why no thought of the Rangers? Don't let their own hype machine fool you, games never sell out except for divisional games.

Stars aren't visiting MSG on their swing or I definitely would. Stars are my #1 team and Rangers are my #2 so that would have been great. I live in Manhattan itself too so that would have been really convinient.

I know Nassau is a dump but the thing that attracted me to it was cheaper tickets, and looking at their site even the upper bowl seats seemed like a really good view. Prudential Center's site didn't even have a camera view from the sections.

Plus if i go to the Islanders game better chance my team will win. I think Nassau is harder/longer ride to get to from the city as well though. I think it'll probably come down to which night works best.

The Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Antti Niemi also returned to Finland recently and went on to praise the atmosphere at the games in Philadelphia.

"I think the crowd in Philadelphia was probably even louder than in our place", Niemi recalls. "The fans there gathered around to grill outside the arena already in the morning. It was totally amazing."

Niemi thinks the Flyers just ran out of gas in the finals.

"They are a good team, but they probably ran out of gas. They played the same players a lot."
    pretty humble guy

    Zherdev a Flyer?

Niemi's always been that way though, he refused to take credit for a few games that without him, Hawks lose no doubt. Interviewing him, he always talked about the guys in front of him and the team effort to get the win.

Man, now Kovalchuk seems cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2US4iaPjag

Also Nabokov fucking off to the KHL, $6m per year for 4 years. Now the Islanders are going to have to overpay some assholes ever more to get above the cap floor!

Kings have apparently "re-engaged" talks with Kovalchuk, I need some SA emotes to express my emotions on this one. Also it was apparently Kovalchuk's camp that initiated this second round (after realizing they are fucking retarded and no other teams that are even decent have cap space to sign him).

Wings have Miller and Eaves re-signed, I can't wait to have 15 forwards this season.

    Gags (if he stays)/Richard/Carter
    Leino/Briere/Hartnell
    JVR/Giroux/Zherdev

That looks pretty fucking nasty. I like the Zherdev signing if it's for a good #.

Goddammit I was really hoping Kovie would continue being a retard and thus prevent him from signing with LA and making them that much better. Also, no surprise on Nabokov, it was pretty obvious he was Russia bound considering how much he was making. No way that guy would take a major pay cut.

    Also happy b-day Callisto

Someone is gone if they are signing Zherdev, they only have ~500 grand left under the cap and he will command much more than that.

Rob Niedermeyer to the Sabres for 1 year, $1.15m. Probably a good deal for them to get a solid veteran, but they still don't seem to have any real offense.

Gonna swerve everybody, come in and steal Kovy under the guise of "if you sign here, we have a great goalie, and since you like to do everything yourself anyway and forget the rest of your team, you can 100% be the focal point of our offense."

Penguins signed another defenseman for 500k, one year contract. Some Stars AHLer.

Not focusing on wingers makes me think Tangradi will be in the big leagues next year. I hope whoever is running the powerplay with Yeo gone puts this big ass kid in front of the net.
