Guerin hasn't been resigned yet (heard he wanted one more year @ 2mil again, would be a desperation signing I suppose). Ponikarovsky (wait, who is this again?) and Fedotenko haven't been resigned and are probably coming to terms with golfing as a career.
How dare you imply that I am not hockey-related!
Leafs sign Brett Lebda to a two year deal. For one point four five million dollars per year. lolllllllll
Wait wait. STANLEY CUP CHAMPION Brett Lebda, I suppose I should have said.
oh shit haha
Fucking Eklund...This may be Burke's best move to date Leaf fans. A two year deal for very little money for a very underrated defenseman. Red Wings fans can not be pleases they lost him...
edit again: shit, the last terrible to mediocre Wing that was signed to a contract he didn't deserve won the Stanley Cup this year. Leafs in '11 I guess.
Wait... Stars are visiting the Islanders and Devils but NOT the Rangers? I've been too lazy/into summer mode to look at the schedule outside of the Rangers home-opener... But that's impossible? Isn't the schedule set that teams' cross-conference schedule works within a partiular division that rotates year-by-year. Ala pacific visits atlanic one season, northwest next, southeast, then back to Atlantic.... So how can Dallas (Pacific) be visiting 2 Atlantic teams but now the whole division?
And even for your logical points... Fuck the Islanders, but fuck the Devils too!
Edit -- I'm fucking confused... Rangers are hosting the Northwest division this upcoming season and visiting the Pacific... And other teams within the Atlantic are hosting at least 1 Pacific team? Someone fucked up the schedule somewhere...
Dallas plays the home opener for both the Devils and the Islanders then goes back to Texas for their home opener vs Detroit. Rangers visit Dallas Jan 7th.Fri Oct 8, 2010

I don't know how the scheduling always works, I just know ECF and WCF teams will face each other at least once every year. The Stars only swing to the NYC area once this year, at the beginning.
Yeah I get that, I'm just surprised. I was under the impression that cross conference trips were consistent in that you got the entire division... I know that's how it worked right after the lock-out. Guess they made a change and I didn't notice.... I should though... There's maybe 2-3 teams in the league I haven't seen and I need to make that happen!
October 16th where are you... Too far away!
Fuck you Kovie. Don't you need playing in the West. Go back to the motherland. On a side note, Canucks annouce Markus Naslund's # will be retired last this year. Why the hell this dude gets his # retired before Pavel Bure boggles my mind.
LA tells Kovalchuk to fuck off... again
As for Naslund over Bure... Naslund has more career points and games played with Vancouver (way less playoff points and games though) and he didn't demand a trade to get the fuck out of town. Also I'm guessing Naslund's charity work had something to do with it as well. Bure was a much better player but as a person he was a prick.
You know this just means Kovie will announce he signed with the Kings tomorrow.
Perhaps they paid a little too much, but it's an indication to which direction Burke is taking. Kaberle+Grabovski probably won't be playing in TO next year, that's almost 6.5m salary cleared... Not to mention Finger is going to the minors for another 3m. This gives the Leafs enough space to sign a high profile winger.
Kovalchuk shit is getting more annoying than the Sundin Saga a couple years ago.
All he needs to do is have a press conference to say "I've decided the team I wish to play for, might not be a team I have played for in the past. But at this time, I won't release any details, or sign a contract. Thank you. I'll hold another press conference when I'm one step closer to making my decision."
lol @ LeBrun:
Lotsa people asking about Kovalchuk. As LA Times reported last night, talks indeed have broken up again. Lombardi needs cap-friendly deal.Right now Kovalchuk camp won't give them one so it's dead again... The player wants to be in LA... But for now, it's off again.Ok - that's last Kovalchuk update from this cat until the guy finally signs. I'm sick of this story. Over and out.
Who is being more of a media attention whore for their respective sport, Ilya, or Lebron? Seriously tired of hearing about both of these guys lol.
In the back of my mind, I'm hoping ESPN cuts away from LeBron's conference tonight like "Oh shit, we just got word that Favre is gonna sign back in Green Bay!"
Then they cut away and he's like "Just kidding! I haven't decided if I'm gonna perma-retire or not. stay tuned, kids!"

Canucks doing a bunch of 40th anniversary (without a cup) stuff and this picture of their first game caught my eye. Fuck the whale! Bring back the Rink and stick back full time.
Also huzzah to getting the good ol' BC boy Hamhuis!
I saw on The Score that LeBron would announce his decision in the first 10 minutes.
Franzen is awesome.
