Just put a mattress on top of it.
Just put a mattress on top of it.
That's actually a great idea, I'll keep that in mind if I need to go back for more. I just put it together today so I'm not sure as to how long it'll last and/or how often I'll need to respray it, but if it gets me through a year or so on less than 2-3 cans of that spray lube it'll be a pretty good deal over the equivalent $99 4'x8' shooting pad from HockeyShot.
edit: other good/bad so far, bad is that the lube does come off a bit on the puck, so you any puck you use on it you more or less need to dedicate as a practice puck for the pad, good is that the lube does not so far seem as bad at coming off on the stick tape/toe of the blade. I went ahead and just sprayed the puck as well to make it a bit more slidey since it was already going to be a practice one for down there.
it's your little can o' Zamboni
That's pretty sweet, I think once I get some money for a stick I'll make one of those in my never-ending dream of playing hockey someday.
I dont see what the point of it is. You can't be shooting a real puck inside a house, even if you put a mattress or even a real net wherever with it. If you miss, you're gonna damage the wall if nothing else. You can't get on it, you'd fall on your ass. ?_? Seems like a lot of work to be able to just practice stick handling in a stationary position.
Actually you can stand on it, I was walking around on it earlier in flip-flops and wasn't sliding around, a person's weight is enough to keep from busting your ass unless you're in like tap-dance shoes or some shit. As far as shooting, we have a pretty large basement, I'm clearing out one side of that and putting some padding at the other end, it's in a corner and if I miss the worst-case scenario is I hit a concrete wall. Otherwise I could always just bring it upstairs, move my car, and shoot in the driveway.
That's what garages are for. Set up a piece of plywood (like 6x10 should be big enough) against the wall and stick a net in front of it. If you're running into problems where you're not hitting the plywood then you probably aren't shooting hard enough to do any serious damage. I spent almost 10 years with a set up like that in my Garage and never had an issue.
Or just ruin a perfectly good washing machine or dryer, like the commercial with Sidney Crosby and some no name schmuck.
Oh wait, that's Talbolt?! I honestly thought it was a fan they picked to do the commercial! My bad lol, I retract previous statement then. I only recognise him with his playoff murder style beard. I don't see him enough in the regular season to know his face. Apologies.
Talbot does local commercials too, that's probably a major reason why he was picked for the Reebok one.
The only hockey spokesperson that counts:
That is pretty neat. Wonder if i could do that to an entire tennis court. Lol. Fuck tennis players.
Initially I was actually intending to just get one of those Green Biscuit pucks and use it at this tennis court down the street, but then I thought about and realized I'd just be fucking up sticks faster and either have to stock up on shitty wood ones that don't have the same lie/flex/feel of my composite or risk fucking up an expensive stick by using it outdoors. I think this ended up as a pretty solid solution, I'll have to see how it holds up over time in terms of how much spray I need to go through and how long until it wears out, but I spent at least 2-3 hours on it today and the spray coating still seems fine.

Spoiler: show
Fuckin' nice DIY, Calli. You should get a 'Wings logo to shoot at.
I was thinking there's that one arcade game with the clown with the giant mouth where you shoot balls at his teeth to knock them down, I could like make an Olli Jokinen face to shoot at:
