2010 NHL Offseason Thread

Eaton's team is going down this year, I have the perfect name too for my team if we do this. Although one will have to explain how exactly fantasy hockey works compared to football, since there are way more games played and such.

Weekly matchups (Sunday-Saturday or Monday-Sunday)

X # of Categories (I can activate any number of categories, from 3 to like 40)

Say we activate for skaters: G, A, +/-, Shots on Goal, PIM, PPP, SHP
And for goalies we activate: Wins, GAA, Save %, Shutouts

Thats 11 Categories, so the score will be out of 11 every week in that league.

Say in week 1, I play you and you get:
15G 23A +11 86SOG 10PIM 13PPP 1SHP 1 Win 3.04 Gaa .900 Save% 0 Shutouts
And I get:
17G 14A +2 103SOG 24PIM 15PPP 0SHP 2 Wins 2.42 GAA .909 Save % 0 shutouts

I win Goals, SOG, PIM, PPP, Wins, GAA, and Save % (7 categories)
You win Assists, +/-, Shorthanded Points (3 categories)
We tie in shutouts. (1 category)

That would be recorded as a 7-3 win for me and a 3-7 loss for you. Technically, it should be considered a 7-3-1 win for me and a 3-7-1 loss for you, because in the standings you gain points for the ties as well. 2 points for each win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss. That week I would earn 15 points for 7 wins and a tie and you would earn 7 points for 3 wins and a tie.

There is a lot of customization, in terms of what categories we play with, how many of each position we allow to draft, trading, etc etc. I can set conferences in the league (Say, Blackhawks, Canucks, and Detroit fans in one conference and Capitals, Penguins, Rangers, etc in another conference). Theres a lot I can do with it.

Ah so you would get W/L for the week matchup based on categories won, where as football just adds the final score up and whoever wins just gets 1 win for that week. That makes sense, seems like a little bit more work, but I'd be interested for sure if we do a free league.

Say whaaaaaaaaaaat? TAN?! They should reverse it and have the main jersey be yellow with a red stripe in the middle where the logo is, wear them with red pants and then yellow socks with red stripes.

Reading lots of Willie Mitchell and Antti Niemi to Caps rumors over the past few days. After a month plus of standing pat with Varlamov and Neuvirth as the goaltenders to break camp, I'd like to see that happen. Mitchell on the other hand would be (if healthy) a big upgrade over Erskine or Sloan. But after the rumors I heard about Lombardi, and then finding out McPhee never strongly considered him, I'm not getting my hopes up.
