2010 NHL Offseason Thread

I can only speak for PS3, but with a very good connection and your opponent having a good one (at least one good enough to not lag things up, 80% of people do), it is by far the best online game I've ever played. I've had back and forth end-to-end action periods where there's 0-1 stoppages and whistles and its so fucking ridiculously fast paced you have to calm your nerves down a little during the intermission breather. Plus it requires you to use your head on the fly, no button mashing or cheap goals like in NHL09 when everyone would poke check the puck out from under the goalie into the net.

If you're talking about fuckers using the mic in an antagonizing immature manner, only about 20% of people play with their mics on and of that 20%, maybe 10% use them in an asshole-ish way. So you're literally looking at 1-in-50 matches that you're putting up with an asshole little kid or unemployed clown on the mic. And when you do score on them, you don't hit X and you make them watch the replay 10 times and laugh at their mistake on the play.

Old rosters / same commentary from NHL10. New tuner/announcers/rosters in the new game but not demo. I feel like the game plays REALLY slow :/ It seems like Im skating through molasses trying to bring the puck up ice.

This year there's a speed penalty for how much your haircut/facial hair looks like a 70s porn star. Carcillo and Hartnell can barely move.

I agree, definitely a big improvement. Goalies seem slightly easier but not too easy and this time the offense can actually get rebounds. In 10 if you had 3 guys at the net the 1 defenseman would still usually get the rebound. Music is terrible though.

lots of new controls it seems actually, pressing down the left stick looks like it gives a bit of a speed burst but tires guys out fast

actually the biggest change I noticed in aesthetics is what guys do with their sticks off the puck, like how they move it in their hands when they get stripped or are trying to move around a guy, it's pretty cool

I was hoping for at least a game of exibition and not the two mins they give you but meh, it's a demo I guess for a reason. Not a fan of the controls at all, way too much to do. Set it back to the Classic style, as that offers more than the NHL 94 setting. Now, does speed boost work with all settings or only on the default/custom?
