User Database Software
Hey All,
Friend recently contacted me looking for some software.
He recently rented out a location to start teaching Karate again. He is looking for some software that is a user database. Maybe something similar to what a school or gym would use.
Name / Address / Details / Contact numbers etc. He really needs fields for contact numbers and other details for parents as he is teaching alot of children. He says he doesnt mind paying for something once it isnt really expensive but i told him id look around and see what was viable and if there was any free options or anything i could torrent for him until he gets up off the ground and has some steady income levels.
Does anyone have any software names or suggestions that i could seek out for him?
Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Is it for his own personnal use (emergency w/e) or some frontend for parents to fill or?
A simple OpenOffice table should be enough for the former really, or a PHP+MySQL solution... like 500 pre-made scripts on the interweb.

For his own use. I presume he will have the parents / kids / students fill it out on paper and he will just introduce it to the system.
Wha should i be googling? Open Office Table? Thanks again
Ye he bascially needs these details for emergency. Not sure if he wants the system to state someone as paid or paid in full or whatever?

Just google and download OpenOffice, then launch OpenOffice Calc it's basically Excel but better and free. You can get a really clean looking sheet done.

Would the sheet actually look like an excel file or have a nice interface to it?
What he really wants is a nice easy interface to input information but also if he wanted he could print off reports or information if needed. Do you know of any particular software other than the excel formats?

You can make some really easy and powerful interface with OpenOffice, but it requires some skill, I use it for my business to print invoices, keep track of sales and total money.
There might(99% chance) be some software fitting exactly your need, premade and all but unfortunately I don't know one.

Ok, well ill have a look at the templates that might be available for Open Office and see if they are easy to work with.
Thanks again!

Access is much more conducive to creating user forms than Excel is.
Access would be the app of choice. Have him make a new table which contains a field for each piece of information he wants to track. Then he can generate a form view to view customer records individually, or set up queries to view customers that meet only certain criteria.
