50 for the remote, 30 for the nunchuck, or 100 for the remote + a camera. Assuming you need 2 remotes and 1 nunchuck for 1 person, then that's 180.

The bundle is 100$ you get a game, eye, and bulb. Seperatly the bulb is 50, and the eye is 40, so youre paying 10$ for the game. Plus you have to buy the controller, which is 30, so thats 130, and to buy another controller set (50+30), that would be 210$

My calcs didnt include the game bundle, I was doing everything individually, but yeah, if you spend 10$ more you get a 'free game'.

Need to add a chuck which is +30 (assuming only one remote per person, depends on how many good games you need two for.. in which case total with buying the 100$ bundle would be 310$)

Looks like Kinect is going to end up being the cheapest to scale up past 2. Surprising considering how much people were complaining about the $150 rumored price tag a while back.

No, maybe missunderstood you. Im still getting 210$ (1 bulb per person) and 310 (2 bulbs per person) though, if you go the 100$ bundle route.

sub controller isn't needed for most of the 2 player games I've seen, they had a 30 minute hands-on with Move at some dutch site and it showed these 2 guys play a bunch of games each in single player then playing together, most seemed to use just one glowing stick thingy. They had the option for 2 controllers per person though, and you could choose that if you had them.

With the Battlestar Galactica MMO set to beta by the end of 2010, Bigpoint CEO Heiko Hubertz explains to Gamasutra at E3 why the U.S. market is "the biggest focus of the entire company".

The game, which Bigpoint demoed a "very early build" of to Gamasutra, uses Unity technology to deliver detailed 3D visuals in a browser. It's under development by German studio Art Plant, though Hubertz says "we do the game design and producing really close together with [rights holder] Universal."

The Latest Word on Bigpoint U.S.

Hubertz says that development of a newer, unannounced game has begun at the company's new San Francisco offices, which have been operational since this March. In fact, the company has hired 18 staffers in San Francisco so far, says Hubertz, describing these staffers as a mix of general staff and "the first team" of developers.

"By the end of the year we think we will be at least 25. Everything depends on the successful first game we're developing. As soon as we see the business is successful we will hire more people, of course." Details of the San Francisco development team's project have not been announced, but Hubertz says "we also hope we can launch this at the end of the year in a beta."

The U.S. is "the biggest focus of the entire company, including Germany," says Hubertz, and of the U.S. office he says "the goal was to build a complete, independent infrastructure from Germany. Not to be a European company but more to be a U.S. company, so we only hire U.S. people. I'm the only German who works in the U.S. entity."

In fact, Bigpoint U.S. Has hired many positions thus far -- even those they have in Germany, such as publishing roles, will be duplicated in the U.S. office to ensure it can operate independently and self-sufficiently.

While the company wants to step up its localization efforts for its European-developed games, a bigger goal, says Hubertz, is "to develop games in the U.S. market, because what we have seen is that the games from the U.S. are quite successful in Europe, but the games we develop in Europe are not that successful here in the U.S. So what we want to do is develop the games here for a higher success rate."

The company also has The Mummy Online under development with Schell Games, based on the Universal film franchise.

    Working With NBC Universal

In 2008, NBC Universal acquired 35 percent of the company, a move Hubertz tells Gamasutra was motivated primarily because of the company's interest in the U.S. market and access to IP -- the relationship makes it "easier", he says, and implied the terms are favorable.

Though other parties had been interested in Bigpoint, he says, "the most strategic fit was definitely NBC Universal, for their huge TV networks in the U.S. and their IP, and their support, and it made absolute sense. And both parties are really happy."

The Battlestar-derived MMO game is set to beta at the end of the year, and will launch as a free to play title on Bigpoint's own browser portal, NBC Universal's Syfy.com, and also sites such as Kongregate, and MySpace; it will be free-to-play. "Our business model is to develop content and share that content with as many media partners," as the company can, says Hubertz.

He also says that full access to the gameplay for all customers, paying and non-paying. This is "very important. Always in Bigpoint games, you can achieve everything for free. you can always get everything for free." This, in Hubertz's opinion, "real free-to-play."

Though Unity allows for release on platforms such as the iPad and iPhone, Bigpoint currently only has browser rights to the Battlestar Galactica IP; Hubertz hopes to pursue the mobile rights as well.

Of the game, which is set in the recent TV series' second season, he says, "The goal is to build an MMO, but the background story and quest system that you have to follow would not be a typical MMO that you expect, because there's a story behind it. Everybody will expect that it follows the story of Battlestar, and we want to do that."

And though the company plans to beta the game this year, "if the results are not good by the end of this year, we will still optimize and tweak it. we don't have this release date to press a master CD, or whatever," he says.

Gamasutra recaps of Nintendo & Sony conferences

    http://www.gamasutra.com/db_area/ima...5/nintendo.jpg

Nintendo’s E3 press conference was at turns defensive and triumphant. Initially defensive because it seemed as though every announcement from Reggie Fils-Aime was presented as an answer to a criticism.

The Best Offense Is A Good Defense?

Fils-Aime talked about the “mistaken belief that many Wii owners just play Wii Sports” and then get bored, noting that what he called “bridge games,” like Mario Kart and New Super Mario Bros. Wii have sold millions (22 and 14, respectively). He discussed also the idea that third parties couldn’t succeed on the Wii, but cited Just Dance as a successful series. His points were valid, but seemed to come from a defensive place, which felt odd for a company on top of its particular market.

The entirety of this conference seemed to be very much an “in group” experience. It was presumed that everyone in attendance was up on all Nintendo news, and perhaps rightfully so given that this is E3, and everyone came to the Nokia theatre to see Nintendo specifically -- but this was a different approach from previous conferences for the company.

In the past, Nintendo focused more on its casual offerings, carefully explaining each title, its intent, and its audience. This showing was much more fan-oriented, with more of the “magical unveils” Nintendo has been known for in the Gamecube days. Fils-Aime noted that this E3 is abuzz with technology, but said that he would like to “adjust that perspective just a little bit. Because technology is only a tool. The end product, the thing that does matter, is the experience.”

He stated aptly that “the best experiences always come when technology and game design are perfectly matched,” which fit amusingly as a live demo for the new Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was plagued by technical difficulties.

It was particularly interesting to note that the more extremely casual products, like Wii Fit and others, were deemphasized during the conference. The closest to a casual title we got was Wii Party, an all-ages multiplayer game that uses your Miis. The focus really seemed to be on the core users, or at least the core Nintendo users – is that a tactic for the conference, or a change in direction for Nintendo? I propose that it’s the former, and it’s a good tactic too – most of the journalists and developers at E3 are here to see those bigger titles, not to hear marketing speak on demographics and market expansion. At this point, Nintendo can call market expansion and casual users a given. Now they can focus on giving specific audiences the specific experiences they need.

If the first half of the conference was marked by Fils-Aime responding to criticism and leading with negatives, the second half, which was helmed by Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, was overwhelmingly positive, simply talking about what was new and exciting. The strategy seemed to be to break the audience down, then build it back up.

    3D Revolution

The unveil of Nintendo’s 3DS, which Iwata called “the successor to the Nintendo DS,” was quite impressive. It has a larger 3.5” top screen, and a touch pad on the bottom once again, because as Iwata noted, fingerprints on a screen will ruin the 3D experience.

The 3DS will be compatible with DSi, and in fact has two cameras so that you can take and view 3D pictures. It also has a “slide bar” for 3D, to turn the effect on and off, which works well, but is a rather unexpected addition. To me this indicates that some 3D may be too much for some gameplay or movie situations, or perhaps adjustments actually optimize the viewing experience.

It really does seem primed to capture a huge demographic. 3D without glasses is really a spectacle, especially when you layer in the fact that it can play movies as well. Details weren’t available, but the company is showing 3D trailers from Disney, WB, and Dreamworks.

And on the game side, as Iwata said 3D gives you a much better sense of height, width, and depth, which gives you better ability to navigate. It’s easier to judge distance in a polygonal environment. Of course, this is the line that all 3D-oriented companies are talking about, including Sony – but removing the need for glasses is a significant step. The 3DS also downloads updates to games in sleep mode, whenever it finds Wifi, or can communicate with other 3DS units.

I got some limited interaction with a 3DS, just viewing 3D models with the new updated processor (which rumor suggest is related to the Gamecube chip), rotating them, and soaking in the 3D-ness of it all. The effect really was quite good, with limited ghosting, and of course, as Nintendo kept hammering home, no need for glasses.

I had predicted that all the 3D would necessarily be going into the screen, but the demo showed that in fact there is some “out” 3D as well, through blurring and whatnot. Very impressive all around.

    Game-centric

When it came to games, the announcements were mostly core-oriented. Aside from Zelda, a new Donkey Kong from Retro was announced, as well as a new Kirby, called Kirby’s Epic Yarn, which has a very charming stitchwork/handicraft aesthetic, and allows your yarn-composed Kirby to interact with the environment in interesting ways, like unzipping parts of the world, and stitching bits of it together.

Demos or videos were shown of Metroid Other M, Epic Mickey, Golden Sun Dark Dawn, and Goldeneye 007, coming from Activision.
Even with the 3DS, the major announcement was Kid Icarus Uprising, a Nintendo-style casual-core hybrid led by Project Sora, the joint venture between Nintendo and Masahiro Sakurai, creator of the Kirby series.

And on the 3DS side, a few more games were hinted at, including some from third parties – Miyamoto is working on a 3D Nintendogs, adding cats, Activision is bringing DJ Hero, THQ is bringing Saint’s Row - which for some reason elicited laughter from attendees – Capcom is bringing Street Fighter IV and an original Resident Evil, and Warner Brothers is bringing Batman of some distinction.

    Nintendo’s Next Steps

The conference left me with the feeling that Nintendo aims to reclaim at least some portion of its core demographic – the company does always say it wants to, but this showing seemed an actual concerted effort toward it, and this time, without explicitly staying “we’re still here.” They simply showed it.

Iwata ended by addressing developers and publishers directly, saying, “I want you to know that I’m truly grateful for the support you are offering. Thank you very much.”

With a high-octane sizzle reel, Sony took its rivals head-on: among the footage of products from Eye Pet to Gran Turismo 5, irreverent advertising spokesman Kevin Butler declared, "who wants to pretend their hand is a gun? What is this, third grade?"

"No need for ponchos, we're going to do it natural," quipped SCEA's Jack Tretton, taking the stage with a lampoon of Microsoft's Cirque de Soleil-decorated Kinect unveiling. He revisited Sony's vision of a "future proof" and "constantly evolving" device, and its aim to be an "interactive networked entertainment company", highlighting the "something for every member of the family" goal for which it's currently competing for living room mindshare with Microsoft.

"We're not simply focused on introducing great new games and hardware technology, consumers can enjoy virtually any form of entertainment on the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation network," said Tretton. The presentation showed a far-changed Sony -- there was an energy that hasn't been present in recent years, and a smart, sharp competitiveness that recalled earlier days of intense console rivalries and one-upmanship.

The entire presentation was clever and on-point -- if, characteristically, a bit long -- and its goal seemed as much to be presenting the company's offering for the year as it was proving the company's cool factor. Judging by the audience reception, Sony's succeeding.

    The Big 3D Push

PlayStation boss Kaz Hirai came out of the gate discussing 3D: "In the next year PlayStation will take both its innovation as well as its content to a completely new level," he said. "Sony is the undisputed leader in 3D... What PlayStation did for Blu-ray, we're now ready to do it for 3D as well."

And Sony proved how important 3D is to its product strategy with an impressive live demo of Killzone 3 in 3D, complete with jet packs, flying machines and fast-paced battles. Herman Hulst with developer Guerrilla called the game "a technical showpiece with truly cinematic moments," promising the game will also have full compatibility with Move functionality at launch.

"We have enabled every PlayStation 3 through a system software update to be your 3D entertainment hub and to drive your 3D entertainment," he said, promising 38 titles created natively in 3D by March 2011. Gran Turismo 5 will also be in 3D, as will Crysis 2, Mortal Kombat, Shaun White Skateboarding, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Tron Evolution and NBA 2K11. And there are further titles, like EyePet, prepped for motion control: "When you pair 3D with the upcoming PlayStation Move, the experience is unlike anything you've ever seen before," said Hirai. "It's the closest thing you will ever experience to being physically in the game itself."

    PlayStation Move

Again and again the company pressed for immersion and realism, a theme that continued when it presented PlayStation Move -- alongside with another continuing theme: buttons are better.

A reel presented developers from Sony's own studios placing their vote of confidence behind the accuracy and depth perception of Move's 1:1 tracking and precision. Snarky pitchman Kevin Butler continued clever slags on Kinect -- much to audience laughter, applause and cheers -- pointing out the gameplay experiences that are more satisfying with buttons instead of gestures, and that offer more depth and sincerity than "catching a big red ball."

Buttons are "critical to precision," said the company's Peter Dille. "We're really not trying to stir the pot here, but we think it's an important distinction... in 3D, you'll start to appreciate that precision even more."

Promising not to retread previously-announced titles, Sony unveiled spring 2011's Sorcery, a title developed for Move with "a total sense of immersion" in mind. It tasks a young wizard with stopping "the Nightmare Queen", and its glowing wand-based gameplay seemed designed to provide the ideal demonstration of Move's body tracking and depth perception. It also showed the fashion in which the Move's glowing ball changes color in according to the gameplay -- when the character on screen selected a green potion, Move's sphere took on the same hue.

Dille called Sorcery a "sneak peek into how we think next-generation motion gaming will look," and introduced EA Sports' worldwide development head Andrew Wilson to show how the experience would apply to sports gaming with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 -- the golf club swing appears to be a natural fit for PlayStation Move, judging by Wilson's demo. Finally, the company demonstrated Heroes on the Move (working title), a Move oriented title starring heroes from Sony mascot brands like Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper, to show that Move will offer games for a broad variety of audiences.

    The Marketing Swagger

The company will make a major marketing push behind Move in partnership with Coca Cola -- more than 130 million Coca Cola packages will highlight PlayStation Move and PlayStation 3. "This is going to be one of the biggest brand partnerships we've ever had," according to Dille.

Kevin Butler cemented his status as Sony's popular mascot and figurehead of the console rivalry by appearing on stage -- his appearance had been widely rumored and requested by diehard PlayStation fans, but "you can't trust everything you read on the internet," he snarked, a reference to one of his first appearances in PlayStation commercials.

Playing at "interrupting" Dille, he delivered a passionate and well-humored speech on bringing the focus from the motion control battle to the games: "I know everyone's got their eye on this motion control battle like it was Olivia Munn in a Lara Croft outfit, but I say it's time we focus on what really matters: The games," he declared grandly. "Who's with me?" His sharp routine was met with an enormously positive reception from the audience.

"When we said the PS3 only does everything, we meant it," he continued. The presentation that aimed to prove that Move is not only accessible and all-inclusive but also hip and relevant to the core audience concluded with the announcement of its price point: $49.99, plus a number of bundles. 15-20 Move titles will be available at launch and more than 40 titles will be available over the holiday.

    PSP and Home

Sony's largest challenge is perhaps aligning a strong strategy for the flagging PSP -- the company's kicking off a "huge new campaign," according to Tretton, to support the device, aiming to position it as a genuine portable console experience. The ad spots bring in "Marcus", a bright-red sneakered, aggressive kid who arrives to help Kevin Butler reform people's portable gaming habits and stress the depth of games on offer.

A parade of PSP exclusives, from Peace Walker to God of War: Ghost of Sparta and UFC Unleashed 2010 were trotted out to show off that aim -- Ghost of Sparta's trailer, the first showing thereof, was impressively epic, and a hefty holiday lineup for the holiday season seemed to show that Sony's far from backing off its oft-challenged portable platform.

Speaking of challenges, the company hasn't backed off of Home, either -- revealing that PlayStation Home owners can visit a replica of Sony's E3 booth in the virtual world and see the displays on offer.

    PlayStation Network And Exclusive Content

"If you look back for the past 15 years, we've designed the PlayStation ecosystem to benefit all of our partners," said Tretton, moving on to discuss content. "There is one title that truly embodies that mentality," he said, pointing to Little Big Planet and the "Play Create Share" vision embodied by the title and by ModNation Racers.

Media Molecule's Alex Evans presented a demonstration of Little Big Planet 2, "massively expanding" character enhancements and creative features introduced in the original title. "All of this just comes down to one thing: Making fun games, and now you can make any kind," he promised, showcasing in new genres and competitive features.

PlayStation Network continues to be free, but Sony will now offer PlayStation Plus, which offers "options to expand and enhance [the] gaming experience." Users get features and content like year-long value credits, exclusive content from Sony and its partners, early demos and beta invitations, and discounts on full games. The service will launch later this month, and a full-year subscription will cost $49.99, with a three-month free promotion to kick off the offering.

Next, EA's John Schappert and Medal of Honor executive producer John Goodrich took the stage to show the game, and unveiled its limited-edition PS3 version, which comes exclusively packaged with Medal of Honor: Frontline for the same retail price. They also showed off Dead Space 2, which also receives a limited edition PlayStation 3 version that includes Dead Space: Extraction with Move support.

    Valve's Vote Of Confidence

The audience was appropriately surprised by GLaDOS suddenly co-opting the presentation to deploy the "emergency surprise system," and Valve boss -- and outspoken past PS3 critic -- Gabe Newell took the stage. "As an industry we're going through a transition from entertainment as a product from entertainment as a service, and because of that the needs of game players and game developers are evolving," he began.

According to Newell, games are about "giving gamers a complete social connected experience," he said, praising PS3's "open approach" to these challenges -- and announcing that Portal 2 will be coming to PlayStation 3. He stated that the PS3 version will be "the best version on any console."

Next up, the first trailer for PS3 MMO Final Fantasy XIV, and one for 2K Games' Mafia II -- the latter will also have PlayStation 3-exclusive day-one content. Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will also offer a PS3-exclusive mission pack, and its multiplayer beta will also be PS3-exclusive.

"Exclusive has become my new favorite word," said Tretton. In 2010 "our publishing partners will prove time and time again that PlayStation 3 and PSP are their platforms of choice." To that end, trailers of exclusives Gran Turismo 5 and Infamous 2 were shown to audience applause.

As a final surprise, the theater dimmed for a debut video revealing a brand-new Twisted Metal game -- the auditorium erupted in wild cheers when the franchise's iconic evil ice cream truck drove onstage to escort Eat Sleep Play founders David Jaffe and Scott Campbell, who emerged to announce the PlayStation 3 exclusive for 2011 and to show off Team Deathmatch online gameplay. It's being created by the same key team that created the original series.

Sony's message overall? It's got the bases covered for every single audience, it asserts, placing special emphasis on the gap it seems to see between Kinect and the core audience, and between Wii and the high-tech consumer. The angle of the presentation is that between PSP, PlayStation 3, Move and the immersion of 3D, Sony wants not only to thoroughly serve all facets of the gaming audience to the same extent, but to do it with panache.

Since the former market-leading company slipped into the third place in the console war, it's been rare to see such glitz and confidence from Sony -- its 2010 E3 presser is the first sign that the company feels it's got its groove back. Since the launch of the PlayStation 3, many industry watchers have understood the brand's value proposition, but criticized the company's communications, marketing and positioning. In fact, perhaps the marketing tone was the biggest thing Sony had to get right this year, and it appears to have met with success.

Sounds like maybe just have to be psn+ to initiate, glad that normal members can use it too though.
    NA site is up

    http://us.playstation.com/playstation-plus/

From 29th June you’ll be able to purchase a 1 year or 90-day membership from PlayStation Store and instantly get your hands on the following premium features. Plus, if you sign up for a 1 year membership between 29th June and 3rd August, we’ll also throw in a free downloadable copy of the award winning LittleBigPlanet.

    Games:

As a member you can expect to get your hands on at least four games a month at no extra charge. Each month there will be a selection of one PSN game, two minis and one PS one classics available on PlayStation Store for you to download. You also get premium avatars and dynamic themes each month, many of which are exclusive to members.

Talking of exclusive, there will also be discounts available on loads of PlayStation Store content, just for members, so make the most of them as these will change each month as well.

Finally, wherever possible we’ll be making sure that members are included in some selected demos and beta trials before they go live to the public so you can be the one to tell all your mates about the next big game they ‘must’ get.

Just the games, avatars and themes alone are worth at least £200* per year, so even before the other benefits, this service is great value for money

    Full Game Trial:

This premium feature gives you the chance to try PSN and Blu-ray disc titles before you buy them in a whole new way. We are not talking normal demos of selected parts of a game here.

With Full Game Trial, you can download the full game and play it as if you owned it for approximately one hour, depending on the game, before you decide if you want to buy it or not. So you can check out the online modes, play against friends or anything else you’d normally do with a game.

The other great thing is that your progress and trophies from the trial will all be unlocked if you buy the game so no need to go back and start again.

    Automatic Download:

We wanted to offer members the speediest service possible so sign up and you can set your PS3 to automatically receive the latest game updates for all the games you play, PS3 system software updates and even have game demos sent directly to your PS3 without lifting a finger.

Just set the time you want to receive them and your PS3 will automatically wake up and download everything, ready for when you next want to play. No more waiting to play your favourite game because there is a new patch or having to remember when the latest system software is launching, let your PS3 do the work.

Details of this great new service, including a list of content available for the first 2 months will be on playstationplus.com between now and the 29th, but don’t forget to get on the Store and sign up before the 3rd August to get the added bonus of a free copy of LittleBigPlanet.

also, the "£200* per year" is roughly $300.

a few tidbits about Zelda SS from a post E3 meeting thing
    - Skyward Sword will, they say, feature a new map, one that's a lot easier to follow than previous attempts. This should cut down on the amount of time you spend "lost", apparently.

    - Aonuma says that recent Zeldas have been focusing on things like story and dungeons. Skyward will instead focus on "fun".

    - Miyamoto says that this time last year, when the new Zelda was first unveiled, the core gameplay was already in an almost complete state. But the art was not. Hence the change in style from what we saw in 2009 to what we saw earlier today.

    - While the game is now nearly finished, with only a few more dungeons and bosses to go, Nintendo want to give the development team the rest of the year to complete the game.

    - Aonuma says that the scene which concludes the trailer, in which Link leaps off a cliff into a sea of clouds, is an important story point. Instead of being raised in a village on the ground, he's been brought up in a town called Skyloft, which is a floating island.

    - He's lived his life in the clouds, and has only recently "discovered" the land below, which he finds has been overrun with evil forces. You spend the game going back and forth between these two regions: Skyloft, and the ground below.

    - The "Skyward Sword" you see in the trailer and screenshots eventually becomes the Master Sword.

    - Skyward's unique visual style, which looks like a halfway meeting between Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, was inspired by Miyamoto's love of impressionism, and the skies in the game are a tribute to Cézanne.

    - Miyamoto jokes that if the game used Twilight Princess' art style, it "would have been done by now".

    - Aonuma says that the final version of the game will ship with support for both MotionPlus and the sensor bar, so that things like archery can be as accurate as possible (similar to how Red Steel 2 was able to ensure the game never "lost you" if you stopped pointing the Wii Remote at the screen).

    - The HUD we've seen in Skyward Swords can be switched off if you think it clutters things up too much.

-Mario Galaxy 2 had a big, thunderous orchestral soundtrack. Will Skyward follow suit? Miyamoto says Nintendo couldn't do what it did with Galaxy 2 and not do the same with the next Zelda.
