Notice that I used the "sound", not phoneme, phone, or allophone. This is called a simplification, in which I recognize that 99% of this board doesn't have a fucking clue about most linguistic jargon, and thus I avoid using it.

What you said is correct, but is actually irrelevant, but saying what I said is incorrect, is incorrect.

"Sound" is a broad term, in my use of it, I was describing that they were both alvelar approximants, and due to the air structure and tongue placement these two are frequently used interchangeably in most languages because of the technical aspects of simply mis-speaking them frequently, and why people, even in a language that does distinguish them, often make this mistake well listening...

Take a large number of speech samples and you'll see this even in English.
