    DNC stuff
What you're describing would be better suited to an entirely new class, lets call it Fencer, who does that sort of thing and is built around it. It would not be a good addition to the existing DNC class.

If you think SE should buff DNC... Then just give DNC store TP, Sekkanoki, Triple attack, and a pony and be done with it.

Edit: To clarify I'm not saying it's a bad idea or poor gimmick, I'm saying that the job you're attributing it to doesn't need it and isn't designed to use it well, and has enough abilities and gimmicks already and just got buffed solidly. DNC needs damage like WAR main needs more healing options.

Because of this after weaponskilling there's a short 10 second or so period while we try and regain our lost TP that leaves us unable to assist the party.

Ive had many times where everything looks good so I spend my tp to weaponskill and take a chunk out of the enemies HP, only to have it damn near kill the tank and I am now unable to help because I spent all of my TP on the weaponskill.

I'd like a way for us to perform attacks that are offensive like other damage dealers, primarily blue mage as both jobs have a lot in common, without completely reducing myself to utter uselessness for 10 seconds after the weaponskill. Thus: Dynes

Dynes would allow a dancer to perform hard hitting attacks, like a blu, without consuming all our TP in one shot. thus we could hit the mob decently hard like a weaponskill, but still have tp left over for emergency cures.

Sekkanoki kind of helps solve the issue, but thats only every 5 minutes and requires 200 tp at least.
I get what you want, i'm just not sure why you want to turn dnc into blu.

It would be less of a buff and more of an alternative set of attacks, potentially just make them available in the higher levels so its not buffing... its just, well, giving us our stuff we're supposed to get at higher levels. New toys like every other job gets.

Dancer is already built around using TP in an offensive and debuff method, the issue is we have a helluva lot of debuffing moves, a lot of defensive moves, but despite SE trying to balance us out our offensive arsenal is rather limited compared.

We got Saber Dance, Violent Flourish, Building Flourish, Wild flourish, and now Climactic flourish.

Of those 5, Saber dance is rather awesome, 50% DA and wahtnot, VF is a neat little toy for surviving and utsu, BF is the most useful non merit JA, but wild flourish can only be used if you're willing to completely cripple your TP for 10~15 seconds, which cna be dangerous, and Climactic flourish could have been awesome IF IT WORKED ON ALL WEAPONSKILLS SE, instead all its good for is lowering the chance of Eviscration sucking.

Other than that, the rest of our repertoire are buffs, sambas, and debuffs, steps, and heals, waltzes.

I can tell SE is trying to give us more damaging capability via climactic flourish, saber dance, etc, but our prime issue is weaponskills cripple our TP. We need a way to deal damage through TP but still be able to control it.

    Thus my idea.

    Perle Set?

Just hit 75 Sam a couple weeks ago and my tp setup looks like

    weapon / pole grip
    walahra
    chiv chain
    brutal ear / fowling ear
    haub
    dusk gloves

    ulthalam / rajas
    amemet
    swift
    shura haidate
    sarutobi

i was just looking at the perle hauberk set and that gives 13 haste with the full set, just like usu does. i'm cruising at 11% right now with the lack of kitty pants also keep in mind i am not merited yet so i don't have an xhit build atm.

an optimal setup for tp would either be full usu or look something along the lines of this (regarding only head/body/hands/legs/feet)

    walahra
    haub+1 / usu
    dusk / +1
    haidate
usu feet / or any of the +3 haste ones

    that nets:

    15 haste
    5str
    20dex
    22att
    17acc
    7stp

comparing the perle set to this "very good setup" results in

    -2 haste
    +17str
    -6dex
    +10vit
    +3att
    +1acc
    +2critrate
    -7stp

i know haste is king in any TP situation however in my position where usu peices are not readily available, kitty pants are a couple weeks away and being pretty gimp without sam merits, would tping in full perle gear be my best bet?

With your current situation, I would stick to a full haste set until you get your 5 STP merits, then swap the Shura to Shinimusha for your 6-hit (sushi/pizza etc. Don't need the Shura acc/STR for TP) until you get Byakko's.

Full Perle may work at 78, but focus on the now - 75. I've always been an advocate of using a full haste set and then a proper 6-hit when applicable (with merits) at 75.

I soloed mandies at 1st in The Tree for my plantoids, but I found that Funguars in the top right of Vunkerl were easier.

Go to Mount-Z, enter Halvung from the entrance behind the pudding camp. Sneak past the bombs and open the door. You'll be in a room with several trolls, moblins, and an Archaic Mirror. Invis up and run across the room, then go North slightly to another door. There'll be about 8 DC bugs in there, a pudding, and a troll. Take someone with dispel and melee them down. Easy.

edit - hurf durf it helps when I wake up, this wasn't what you were asking at all, sorry D: had so many people asking me about this recently that I just auto-piloted.

Just in case anyone was wondering, it appears Wamouracampa take more physical damage when they AREN'T curled up, which is good for the Big 3 hehe.

Is there any place I can get some info on what's new in the game? I hate to ask such a general question.... but I'm not sure where to look now, and the info here is pretty sprawled out.

Basically, I quit around 7 months ago, joined back up last night. When I quit, the first Mini-Expansion had come out and I had completed it. Are the other mini-expansions worth buying? Where do I get a basic description of this Abysea stuff. I was browsing the main thread, but again the good info is mixed in with a heavy dose of junk.

How does the new level cap work out? I have been reading the EXP Camp thread, so I know most of the places people are Exp'ing now already.

I would assume with the server merges that the game is a bit busier now. The reason I quit was because it was nearly impossible to grab low level parties. I was stuck always meriting on WAR and it got really tiring.

I know the best thing to do is just read up on these threads, but if there is a website that basically just states what has been added/subtracted/changed to the game in the last year or so that would be great.

Considering you can't set Dual Wield until 80, I'd say Ninja hasn't been replaced for leveling?

Would Tumbler Trunks be better than Enkidu's Subligar for Vorpal Blade? Basically it's

    1 DEX 16 Attack vs 4 STR

Guessing it should be, but I would like to make sure.

    EDIT: Oops put in wrong thread >_>;

Anyone have any suggestions for trying to tribox Scouting the Ashu Talif with 80 cap? How hard is it to do, what jobs would be optimal, or any other advice on how I could solo it so I can gain access to targeting the captain?

If anything BLU/DNC replaced BLU/NIN since boxstep/quickstep/desperate flourish actually affected your spells.

Quixon, as far as the addons go, it depends on your opinion of buying gear from SE. Depending on your job, the MKD hat and the ASA legs can be your best option (though a lot of the new gear that came out beats it). Personally, I play pet jobs and am frivolous so I immediately purchased them. Assuming you have no qualms about paying for gear (because you're definitely not buying a story), just look over the gear and determine whether you feel it's worth that twenty bucks or whatever it costs now.

Noticed something strange last night. I was dual boxing spiders for Amano/Cure Staff trial and realized my husband's char (78SAM) was getting 2 more exp than me (76WHM) on every fight - did I miss something with the update?

We both had signet, no exp bands, nothing that I can think would change the exp. It was consistent for at least two hours and always 2 exp, though the mobs only ranged 40-45ish exp so it may have been ~5% instead of a static bonus. Any ideas?
