    You can change to the other nation without losing anything. Just need to do the quest. However when you change back, you will lose two medals. Depending on what you need to buy, it might be worth it or hold on to get several pieces at once. Also note, that you can't keep jumping back and forth, I think you only get one freebie. So if you decide to change back to the nation you want to buy stuff from for a second time, you'll lose medals then too.

    I'm gaining a ton of points as a Bastokan, and will hop to Sandy when I'm ready to buy my Iron Ram set.

    What you observe with J/HJ is evidence of what is or isn't. If virtue OAT procs on J/HJ, it would be obvious. (Consequently, there is some level of haste well below 80% where Jumping with Love Halberd is unproductive...)

    Base damage matters too, its just obviously more realistic to increase your attack to keep that form happening rather than increasing your base damage.

    -Also have evasion Dakinis--I find solo more fun and relaxing than partying, though that doesn't mean I can't still want to improve. :3

    I'd like to start building up a DE set since I haven't bothered up to this point (I solo so much, I figured I was only hurting myself). With ~400k, where should I look first? Already looking at these:
    -I have an Angel's Ring augmented with an extra +1 CHR that I figured I'd swap in for Ulthalam's.
    -Warwolf Belt is a nice obvious choice.
    -Relic: Etoile feet have 4 DEX for free, Etoile legs have 3 CHR, Etoile Cape and body and great but never friggin' drop.
    -AF has a few mods--2 DEX on the hands, 4 CHR on the head.
    -I could theoretically lug around my hume RSE1 set for for the 3 DEX/3 STR hands, but swapping them in would make me feel like I'm back in the 30s. >.<

    AFAIK, CHR mod for DE is really a useless stat to focus on. stick to DEX/ATK/STR/ACC.

    Etoile Body, Warwolf(or Virtuoso if you lack acc), Anwig salade str+4 wsacc acc/atk, don't use angel's ring +5 CHR, you'll get more from a Thunder Ring, or even an accuracy ring if your ACC is that low. Enkidu hands/legs/body are also decent WS pieces.

    Most of that is either free or ZNM, except for the Thunder ring (which can easily be a spinel ring if you wish)

    So despite CHR being 40% over DEX's 30%, I should ignore it entirely? I totally understand that advice for a THF who has SA to think about, but I'm curious about the reason behind it for DNC. I get that DEX also increases Acc, but that doesn't matter all that much when I'm just puttering around VoS--obviously I'll care more about the acc if I party, but I think I probably am not emphasizing just how rare that is. I have a bard for partying.

    I definitely need to finish my moogle missions, I'd forgotten about Anwig. And I don't have a shell that does ZNM as anything more than "hey guys, do we have enough for Oily Blood ZNM? No? k I'll ask again tomorrow...."

    honestly, DE is like rampage or penta thrust. you want to land all your hits, and once you do that consistently, make them hit harder. you'll get more mileage from att/str/dex than from chr.

    question of my own:

    while acknowledging that it would make me a more complete rdm, am i gonna be gimp w/o /sch? i'll grind it if i have to, it doesn't seem like a job that would be smart to AB, unlike, say, /drk. along with that, any good solo guides? or just use a blm solo guide?

    Especially with the update, /SCH should be more powerful than ever. Level it.

    I chose to solo mine in the beginning. I used a BLM solo guide for locations, but be wary about following the exact level requirements for each zone. I didn't get into the higher level solo'ing on it, for instance, many BLM zones require the use of AM to be effective. For the lower level ones, if the guide reccomends moving at 30, consider staying until 32 or so on SCH due to weaker nuke selections.

    Perhaps I should phrase it a bit better.

    Could someone point me to math/formulae that will show me why a 40% WS mod is inferior to a 30% WS mod and STR, presuming acc is not an issue?

    I'm not flaming, fighting, bitching, whining, or arguing. I just want a reason outside "it's just better if you do this instead." I want to be educated.

    Using this line incase I'm blatantly incorrect: From what I understand..

    The direct effect of said mod isn't inferior, it's what goes along with it that is. While CHR is definitely the most potent, this isn't a one-hit weapon skill, and can crit. The +DEX will increase your accuracy (5 hit weaponskill, massive amount of accuracy required), increase chance of critical hit, etc. Capping attack and fSTR on multi hit weapon skills is difficult, and so STR is a huge player as well.

    I haven't looked into DNC or the WS itself beyond what has been mentioned, but it's actually easier to cap fSTR since the limiting factor is your weapon's base damage. Daggers don't have high base damage, so capping fSTR isn't necessarily difficult.

    Given what we know now about job adjustments and abilities, I'm trying to determine appropriate subs in the long run. Am I missing/forgetting anything?

    RDM: BLM, DRK (at least 45, until /BLM offers stun), WHM, SCH, NIN, DNC, do I need blu - is it a must have?

    BLM: RDM, WHM, SCH, NIN

    COR: RDM, WHM, SCH, NIN, DNC, RNG, WAR?, SAM? Not sure about the last two here.

    BLM for COR. RDM is iffy since it requires a situation where you're QDing and need buffs, but are not kiting.

    RNG TP set:
    Fire staff, axe strap, selene's bow, ammo
    Hunter's beret, Ranger's necklace, Vision earring, Fox Earring,
    Mirke wardecors (10 rattack, 5 snapshot), crimson fng. gnt., rajas, behemoth ring NQ (+2 str augment)
    Amemet mantle +1, toxon belt, dusk legs, scout's socks

    RNG WS set:
    Same as above except...
    Wyvern helm, Seiryu's kote, Garrulous ring (replacing behemoth), 2x drone earrings.

    I'm intending to use my MKE head piece for my RNG. I know that I want 10 racc + 5 rattack but am unsure what to get for the 2nd augment.

    1) 4 store tp, acc 10 (would let me 6hit without /sam for sbow and ebow when I finally get one)
    2) 4 agi, ws damage +2%
    3) 4 str, ws acc +15
    4) Something else entirely?

    Any thoughts? Suggestions for upgrades to tp/ws set welcome but I don't have unlimited funds/time.

    Also, what's best camp to solo BLM 37-40?

    Hmmm. Somehow I forgot about this camp, I could only think of Zi Tah Gob Leeches since it's been years since I last solo'd off gob pets, but I remember that camp exp being pretty low at that lvl.

    blu is not a must have for rdm, but it's pretty damn awesome for tanking. i'd recommend getting it to 8 for cocoon, trying it out, and if you like tanking with it, level it up (lvl 16 will give you auto-regen from healing breeze + sheep song).

    as for /drk, i honestly wouldn't bother taking it past 37 unless you enjoy the job itself or you have a compulsive need to have a capped sj. from 38-45, you get three absorb spells (int, dex and str) and probably a couple points of hp and mp, and that's it.

    DE can't crit (without SA/TA). Therefore the value of Dex is solely from accuracy and the WS mod. If accuracy is capped, straight Chr should be better.

    That said, 12 Chr will get you about +1 WSC compared to 12 Dex. Unless you're able to get a -lot- of Chr, or there just aren't any decent Dex options in the same slot, it's unlikely you'll change the total damage much. Of course as you'll probably be carrying a fair bit of Chr for Waltzes anyway it may simply be easier to use that.

    A lot of the things you mentioned (primarily AF/relic) are extremely marginally different, as in one might be +1% and another +1.25%, where the difference depends on what you're fighting, etc. None of them stand out as being "must use" options. About the only notable upgrades I can see offhand (haven't done a full scouring of options) is MKE head and a gorget.
