Is it 2006, or am I just the worst PLD on Cerberus?

Serious question. Do I suck because I use PLD/NIN instead of PLD/WAR at 75? Is wearing a Haubergeon/+1 on PLD a capitol offense? Is Cerberus really so backwater that people innately regress 5 years when they come from other servers?

Background story: So I loaned one of my alt characters to a friend while he was broke and couldn't afford his own account. The guy lives 10 minutes from me and I've known him for years, not a problem. He gets his account back up and running, I start using my alt again. I log it in so I can solo an assault, and notice he has this social shell I've never heard of. I toss it on because my event shell is not the most talkative in the mornings and early afternoons.

So I just lurk and enjoy a break from the monotony of my day when I see some guy complaining about not wanting to finish leveling his Pld. Okay, whatever. Other members start getting on the guy's case, telling him "it's the cheapest job in the game, all the good gear is R/EX." So, trying to be helpful, I make a note that PLD still has to buy Haubergeon and other DD gear while leveling once they hit ToAU and such (Hey, i don't invite turtles any more). That sparks inexplicable rage from "super elite career plds from Apathy of Remora" who think Haub is the antichrist and anyone who DDs on Pld should be shot, etc etc etc.

This ends up leading to my alt's removal from the linkshell (lol), for "shitting on the basic principles of PLD" and "insulting career PLDs who know more than me". The linkshell leader comes and "deals with me" privately afterwards. Hell if I know what's going on here.

tl;dr, Is PLD/WAR the new leet thing to do? Am I behind the times for TP'ing in Haubergeon, and not fulltiming ACP body? Does tanking things as a PLD/WAR turtle make you a better player, and not just a massive headache for your support? Did Apathy of Remora really accept these players, and were they ever worthwhile tanks?

If I'm doin'it'rong, please tell me. I'll gladly change my playstyle and PLD XML if there's serious evidence to back it up. I'm not closed-minded. The absolutely stalwart tenacity of these people's claims has compelled me to post this, in search of knowledge. Please, enlighten me.

That's what I get for loaning my alt to a rl friend. That fucker trashed all the buffers on that account, his RDM is 74 now too. I wish I had expwatch loaded during assaults or I'd have caught it sooner.

You can tank any mob (short of AV/PW) on any subjob if you have the proper support. I couldn't be bothered to read the rest of it but that's the simple fact of it.

*EDIT* If they really are advocating PLD/WAR as a turtletank over PLD/RDM they're being stupid.

I'm certain you could. /War seems a hell of a lot more of a hassle than other viable subs but that wasn't really the point. Wearing Haub for Atonement TP was the point, versus ACP body fulltime. Tanking with /Nin is easy. Tanking Pld/Rdm is more fun, and less easy, but still very viable (even more so on many things). Why is tanking everything /War with Def/Vit gear cool?

Well, what are the augments on the ACP body? If they're using Acc+10, sure it's better to TP in than Haub (because I would assume they're using Enmity, too). If not, well, that's just silly.
